Articles are flexible. You can write an article on just about any topic you have knowledge of, as long as you can relate it in some way to your website or products. In fact, having variations in your articles is very important to help build your expert status and credibility.
For example, if you have strong opinions about anything in your industry and if your opinion is good but you do nothing but talk about it, people will trust you less. They prefer those who walk the talk.
By all means, show them your opinions. However, you also want to share your personal stories about why you think your opinions are the right way to go. Better still, show an actionable plan on how to do certain things and what results could the readers expect.
Now you have many forms and variations in your articles. Here are a few more article forms you can use.
1. Top five lists.
A list is one of my favorite article forms. It allows you to write an article very fast. Write down the points and expand it one by one. Each point in the list is independent to each others so while they should be related you don't have to keep the flow of sentences and paragraph like you should in free flowing articles.
2. Book and other content excerpts.
Leverage is the key word in any business, and this also applies to article writing and marketing. You can repurpose your existing content into articles and make them available to the public audience.
Not all people will buy your book, but if you give excerpts of the contents away, perhaps later readers will consider buying it after realizing the quality of the book.
3. Problem - solution.
The ultimate goal that readers have in mind when searching for information and reading articles is to solve their problems. Even if they already live in abundance, if they wish they could improve it still, they have a problem waiting to solve.
Write about the problem and explain it. People may know about their problem but not in a way that you know, tell them the risk for not solving that immediately. Next, offer one or two possible solutions to remedy the situation.
This is a very powerful way to grab people's attention and “force" them to read to the end.
How could you use these forms for your articles? I'm sure you are now getting at least a few ideas.
