Article writing is a powerful method to get traffic. A lot of people think that they need to be able to write very well before they could start creating articles. That's simply not true.
Unless you have a target audience that dictates otherwise, many copywriters suggest that people should write their copy - and in this case articles - using the style understood by he fifth-grade students.
This isn't to insult your audience's intelligence. Online, people tend to read very fast. They scroll and scan. Using simple language, they can capture more information in this method of reading. People can also read faster this way.
In order to keep up with this level of writing, here are a few tips on how to do it:
1. Use short sentences and paragraph.
Divide a long sentence into two or more sentences. One thought per paragraph, please. Big blocks of text on a screen are difficult to read. People read slower on screen so make it easy to do so.
2. Use bulleted list
Use formatting that makes it easier for the readers to find information and rest their eyes. A bulleted list, like this one allows people to read only that section without losing its meaning.
3. Make it conversational
Write like you talk. Lower the vocabulary level if necessary. People appreciate if you can get across a point without having them to open a dictionary.
Remember that the purpose of an article is to help others understand the idea in your article. While punctuations, capital letters and other things matter, the ultimate goal is to help the readers understand, not to impress them with your English skills.
