What is copy writing? As an affiliate marketer, this is going to be one of the greatest tools in your arsenal. By using powerful, emotional language in your advertisement, you present your product in a manner that will entice, cajole and persuade the visitor into making a purchase.

Successful copy writing is not something that the average person can just jump right into. However, if you have to write your own advertisements, the following tips will help you get the best return.

1. Know your product. You will be extolling the virtues of what you are selling. You need to know how it will benefit your visitors if you hope to write about it convincingly. Set these benefits apart from the rest of the sales letter with bullets that draw the eye.

2. Know your audience. It is imperative that you know who you will be targeting. You don't want to spend hours writing copy that won't appeal to your prospective customers. Write the way you talk. Keep the tone conversational. This is the reader's chance to get to know you and you want to earn their trust.

3. Create a powerful headline. Use action words and make it clear what it is you want the reader to know. Instead of: “You can get visitors to your website" you might try “Turn Your Website into a Traffic Magnet!" The goal is to get the visitor to keep reading.

4. Know what action you want the reader to take. If you want them to click here, then tell them, Click Here! If you want them to buy it now, then say, Buy it Now! There are a lot of fence sitters out there you might just need to urge them into action.

5. Know what need your product fills. Is it going to save the visitor time, money, or aggravation? Will it help them be healthy, thin, or beautiful? People buy things because of what they will do for them.

These are some basic tips to help you along the road to writing copy that makes your customers rush to respond, click, and buy your affiliate products. After all, your goal is to convert as many visitors into paying customers as you possibly can.

Copy writing is defined as writing that sells something. Your customer can't see or hear you, so you have to let your words do the work for you. Remember, this may be your only chance with this visitor and you need to convey a lot of information to build interest, trust and a willingness to buy. Traffic that does not buy is just a drain on your bandwidth.
