Article marketing can be easy if you know how to do it right. The problem is, most people do it wrong and wonder why they haven't got the kind of results they want. While certainly there are more to it, here are 5 things to avoid at all cost if you want to get long-term results from this marketing strategy.
1. Spammy content
The first thing you want to avoid is spammy content. Don't post lousy articles because your name and business are at stake. No one would read such article, even if they could find it in the first ranking in the search result for popular keyword. Chances are, it won't be there for long.
2. Excessive spelling and grammatical mistakes
Text editor or word processor are now able to check for spelling mistakes. Word processor could also do limited grammatical check for your articles. Make it a habit to reread what you've written and fix the typo, misspelling, grammatical errors and structure of the sentences. They will increase your professionalism.
3. Blatant promotion
Don't even promote anything in the body of an article. I recommend against doing so in the resource box too, although you could do it to certain extent. A better approach is to offer good quality information to get the readers click through and become a subscriber to your list or e-newsletter.
4. Irrelevant offers in resource box
Don't write about one thing and offer something else in the resource box. Readers are more likely to click if you can provide relevant information to help them learn more about particular topic. Aim for high relevancy.
5. Not following editorial guidelines
Editorial guidelines are there not to limit your creativity or results. They are actually good for the long haul. For example, if people could post private label rights content on the directories, those content will become all too common in the directories and no one will find value in that sites anymore.
Writing in accordance to the guidelines may seems to be difficult at first, but this will become second nature as you familiarize yourself with them for some time.
