If you're to have an online business instead of just money maker, you must consider your whole online strategy. Article is powerful and you can multiply its potential by leveraging it to the fullest.
What was I talking about in the previous paragraph? I know a lot of online marketers who are promoting affiliate products by using articles. I tried this several times and the results are not bad at all.
However, this method is not effective for the long run. That is my first objection. I like to work once and reap the results repeatedly. Fortunately, that is absolutely possible.
Usually, if you are promoting one specific affiliate product, you need to search for products which have quite a bit number of searches per month. Using the right keywords, you write articles that are targeting those products, one at a time.
Hopefully with the amount of competitions you have in the search index, you are still able to get good rankings and traffic. Traffic from such keyword search are usually very targeted because they are searching for that specific product.
However, there are times this approach is not possible. Perhaps you are promoting a new product that was recently launched. The buzz created around the product launch was huge enough to generate spikes in search traffic.
This trend won't last though. Although you can tap into the sudden surge of traffic, it is not for the long haul.
This is exactly the reason why I always recommend that article marketers focus on the long-term results. I mean, they should get the visitors into their list first. By building the relationship further, they could sell to the prospects again with their own or affiliate products.
Offering an e-newsletter to provide value is the most common type of mailing list. People need information and if you can provide that, you will capture their attention for years instead of having one and only chance to sell to them.
