Article marketing is a truly wonderful way to get much-needed backlinks to your web site.
When you submit your article to the various article directories, they will generally allow you to place several links back to your web site.
If HTML is allowed, which many do, the URL is linked to anchor text, which should normally be a relevant keyword that reflects the web page it is linked to. For example, if your article is about dog biscuits, the link within your resource box should read something along the lines of; ‘For more information, visit Jeff’s website where he provides a mine of information on dog biscuits:’ the text ‘dog biscuits’ should be linked to a page on the site that is devoted to dog biscuits.
This not only leads the reader directly to the relevant page on your website, but the search engines associate the keyword ‘dog biscuits’ with your web page, and rank it higher for relevance. In addition your readers are led straight to a page relevant to your article rather than your home page. Many visitors will click away from your home page if it is not obviously relevant to the subject of dog biscuits. Leading them to a relevant page that includes an opt-in form is an ideal form of article marketing.
The link back to your site is regarded by Google as being an indication that your site is regarded as being valuable with respect to dog biscuits, and so helps your listing position. The more such links back to your site, especially if they are one way links whereby you do not have to reciprocate with a corresponding link, the better will be your position in the search engine index for the keyword or search term used.
