Your Guide to Eyelid Surgery

Visitors: 172

Eyelid surgery is used to lift the drooping eyelids and bags under your eyes. As you progress with age your eyelids will begin to droop. It is these droopy eyes which make you look old and tired. To get that youthful appearance once again you would need to undergo eyelid surgery. In medical parlance this is known as Blepharoplasty.

If you are looking to get the wrinkles and lines around your eyes corrected, then eye lid surgery is not the correct surgery. The removal of lines can be done by Botox injections or laser resurfacing.

The droopy eyelid condition can occur in both males as well as females. The primary reason is that as you age, the skin does not remain firm and taut. The skin becomes thin, causing it to be stretched and appear saggy. With age, the muscles also start to weaken and cause the fat to move. This movement of fat causes the skin to be loose, thus appearing saggy. The movement of the fat also makes the lower area under the eye to be puffy. Another thing to remember is that there are several folds of skin over the upper eyelid which can be removed using the eyelid surgery.

The surgery for the eyelid is not very complicated and the doctor will not keep you in the facility for the night. He will send you home by the end of the day unless of course there are any complications. For upper eyelids, the incision is made on the upper eyelid fold so that it is not easily visible. The skin is trimmed around the eyes to give a sharper look to the eyes. In the case of lower eyelid surgery, the incision is made by the surgeon along the lines of the lower lashes.

This helps to hide away the incision scar till the time it heals. The skin is lifted as well as excess fat removed to give a sharper focus. The overall surgical procedure is not more than three to four hours long. The operation is done under general anesthesia unless otherwise required.

So go ahead and research properly for the right surgeon and get a youthful appearance of the eyes. The overall face structure improvement is necessary if you need to get that rejuvenated face. Try to get some other surgery like face lift along with eyelid surgery while you are at it. The prime importance should be given to the selection of a right surgeon for any sort of cosmetic surgery.
