Situated in depth of the Maharashtra State of India Tadoba is a tribal kingdom. Named after a brave tribal Tharu it is now a National Park and a tiger reserve meant for the conservation of this endangered species. The conservation unit also protects the amazing biodiversity and the mega fauna that are part of the ecosystem.

Tadoba Tiger Reserve is spread in an area of over seventeen hundred square kilometers of which over six hundred and fifty constitutes the core. The rest is buffer which has less density of animals and is inhabited by humans. Nevertheless tourism is interesting in this reserve thanks to greater visibility of the big cats.

In order to facilitate tourism the forests have been divided into six zones each with a separate entrance. These zones lie within the core and offer exciting sighting of flora and fauna. The bird life too is exciting here with more than two hundred species along with reptiles like the marsh crocodiles, python and number of other species of snakes.

Those visiting Tadoba should know that the entrance gates are at a distance from each other and the approach is also different. Hence when planning for a safari here one needs to plan the visit very well. The entry from each gates is limited hence it calls for an advance booking of the permits for excursions. Once you have booked the permits you can plan the stay. As a wise move choose the best accommodation nearest to the gate of entry. In case you choose a preferred hotel or resort at a distance then be prepared for a longer drive to the gate. This may be the case with people having preference for a particular hotel accommodation. There are many accommodations available in the buffer of the tiger reserve hence finding one close to the entry gate is not a difficult proposition.

Another good aspect of this reserve is a robust buffer where tigers, leopards and sloth bears can be seen in good frequency. This makes safari at Tadoba Tiger Reserve more enjoyable and exciting. Another aspect of the park is that tiger sightings are extremely good with a greater certainty. Tadobq can be approached from Nagpur Airport in Maharashtra.
