Raipur in Chhattisgarh Tourist Destinations

Albeit an erstwhile part of Madhya Pradesh, Raipur is now a bustling capital of Chhattisgarh State. Carved out of MP the state is a scenic paradise teeming with forests, natural places and quaint hamlets. Not very far from its sister city Bilaspur the capital along with Bhilai forms a network of industrial establishment. Fast emerging as a leading economy the State excels as tourist destination as well. With plenty of avenue to visit with the city limits Raipur offers enough to a lazy tourist not bold enough to trudge beyond. Some of the places of interest are listed below:

  1. Jain Mandir
  2. Vallabhacharya Temple
  3. ISKON Temple
  4. Town Clock
  5. Vivekanand Sarovar
  6. Banjari Mata Mandir

The city has plenty of places for entertainment like cinema halls, eateries, street food joints, malls and local gardens. A day long visit is not enough to experience the bustling capital.

Outside the city limits, well a bit far from Raipur are places of interest that excel in touristy offerings. One of the best places to visit is Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary, an ideal wildlife holiday destination. The rides yield plenty of game besides dazzling avian species.

Far away, but yet near is Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, a tiger heaven it teems with large game. One can see the tiger, bison, leopard, sloth bear and a wide variety of deer. You can find accommodation in Government Rest House as well as some resorts. Achanakmar can also be accessed from Amarkantak in Maikal Hills isthe source of River Narmada. This is a holiday resort at height of 3000 MSL and houses many places of pilgrim interest. Replete with natural places one can visit the source of River Narmada and Son. The places abound in waterfalls and lush green surrounding. It is a part of Achanakmar Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve.

Guru Ghasidas National Park a part of erstwhile Sanjay Dubri National Park is another tiger heaven. At a distance of about 250 plus km it is a must visit destination for all wildlife lovers and holiday makers alike.

The capital city is fast emerging as tourist destination that offers plenty to explore. The esoteric tribal belts nearby are home to many ancient monuments, temples, caves and scenic spots. In order to visit the destinations one can arrive using air service from New Delhi. There are plenty of luxury hotels in Raipur that offer a pleasant stay. Using the city as focal point one can explore as per the choice.
