Halloween is coming up quick, and if you're tired of the same old trick-or-treating, then it's the perfect time to plan a short vacation before the weather turns too cold. And when it comes to fun vacation activities, there isn't much that will beat taking an air tour of the Grand Canyon.

You can take flights from Las Vegas, from nearby Boulder City, and even from Arizona in the town of Tusayan. The flights lift off every day, except for Christmas Day, so you'll find plenty of tours over Halloween. High demand is expected for the end of October, though, so make sure you book as soon as possible.

Helicopter Tours Departing From Vegas

The helicopter tours that operate out of Vegas and Boulder City in Nevada all fly to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Here there are attractions like the Grand Canyon Skywalk, and there are even Colorado River boat rides. To do these activities, you'll need to book a landing tour. The West Rim is the only part of the Canyon where you can land at the top of the rim, or at the riverside below.

However, the air tour is pretty spectacular too. Your flight gives you many scenic views, you'll even get to see the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. There's no better place to see the Canyon than from a helicopter, and you will love the spectacular views on display.

If you can work it into your budget, I do recommend taking a landing tour. Landing tours travel the same route as the air-only tours, with the added bonus that you can land at the Canyon. Stepping out on the Skywalk, 4000ft above the Canyon, is an exhilarating experience. Even if you want to land at the bottom, the riverboat ride will offer you a complete opposite perspective to that which you get in the helicopter. You'll be able to pick the adventures you're most interested in and create a tour package you'll enjoy.

Sipping Champagne at the bottom of the Grand Canyon is not something that everyone can claim to have done, but it's exactly what you could do if you choose one of the bottom landing tours.

Touring The South Rim

Even though you can't take a landing tour at the South Rim, there are plenty of other reasons to go there.

You can choose a flight that takes you all the way to the wilderness area of the North Rim. The North Rim is very remote and mysterious, and it's one of the least visited areas of the Grand Canyon. There is also a longer, 50-minute flight you could book that lets you see the national park lands over to the eastern border in addition to exploring the North Rim. When you take the 50-minute tour, you'll get to fly over nearly 3/4 of the whole Grand Canyon National Park. The longer tour costs a little more, but it is worth it since you get to see so much of the park from the air.

Helicopters

Different types of helicopters are used on the various tours, and if you want the best ride, you should book a deluxe tour. The deluxe helicopter tours fly on the EcoStar 130 helicopter. The EcoStar is designed for sightseeing, so it has roomier seats with more personal space, plus the cabin is a lot quieter, in addition, the huge windscreen wraps around the front of the chopper so you have fantastic views with no obstructions to get in the way.

Another benefit of taking a deluxe tour out of Vegas, is that your chopper will lift off from The Strip, and you'll get complimentary ground transportation in a limousine. By comparison, basic tours leave from Boulder City, and require a shuttle bus ride to get out to the air pad.

Paying extra for a deluxe tour ensures you'll have the best views and the ultimate comfort and convenience on your tour. for that reason, you should book a deluxe tour if you can. However, there is no reason to be concerned if you need to book a basic tour, because a basic tour of the Canyon is an experience you'll never forget.

Wrapping Up

Halloween is always a fun time of year, but this year, you can make the holiday even more fun by taking a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. There are so many tour options, you'll be able to find something that's a perfect match for your interests and budget. Don't forget, you'll need to book your tour early or it might be sold out. Book your tour online too, so you can use the low Internet rate and get a great deal on a fun holiday adventure.
