Associated with the white tiger the park is far away from where the big cat was actually discovered. Bandhavgarh nevertheless is the land of the tiger a paradise on earth. The park contains history in form of ruins of ancient past dating back two thousand years.

The ruins are scattered all over the forests enlivening experience of wildlife enthusiasts on the safari jeeps. An ancient fort on the highest mountain called Bandhavgarh towers over from the dizzy precipice. Number of manmade caves, stables, temples and shelters can be seen during the excursions.

Amidst enchanting wilderness it is unique to go through annals of history. The tiger reserve is amazingly picturesque nestled amongst thirty two steep cliffs, marshy meadows and snaking rivulets. As tourists traverse on safari jeeps a spectacular panorama unfolds making Bandhavgarh one of the most captivating destinations.

Prime attraction here is the tiger but tourists love to see leopards as well among the big cats. Other animals seen are the sloth bear, wild dog, gaur, Nilgai, spotted deer, sambar and barking deer. The drive is an experience in itself as you move through steep climbs, twisting pathways and marshlands. A steep climb up can be unnerving for those with a weak throbber.

In womb of the nature life flourishes manifold creating astounding diversity. Tourists who come from far and wide to see the tiger are spell bound by the spectacular display of nature. Amidst strict regulations tourism takes place for about eight months between October to June.

The tourism area is divided into three zones which contain jungle roads intersecting niche habitats. Tiger and other wild animals including birds and myriads of life forms inhabit these zones and offer tourists a chance to sight them. Tala is the premium zone besides Magadi and Khitauli.

Recently the buffer zones have also been offered for safaris. This step has proven to be very successful as wildlife abounds here.

The jungle roads offer view of wide intersections of habitats on which deer can be seen grazing. Tigers can be seen here on hunts and strolls moving towards water holes, rivers and dense canopy. Langurs, wild boars and peacocks are common sights that saturate the empty spaces in the land of illusive animals.

Most of the targeted animals and birds are hard to find enumerating their shy nature. Tala contains most of the historical ruins besides marshy grounds tigers find excellent for hunting. All the zones are breeding areas for the big cats thanks to dense forests and extensive grasslands.

For holistic experience a minimum three days stay is required hence a number of resorts have sprung up. These are essential elements of tourism infrastructure of the National Park. The resorts range from budget to luxury with one or two being classified as 5/3 star. Many resorts offer package deals for maximum cost benefit.

The park is located in Central India in the State of Madhya Pradesh. It is accessible from Jabalpur Airport at a distance of 170 km and from Khajuraho Temples at a distance of 250 km. Plans are afoot to enable small charter planes near the tiger reserve.
