In anticipation of the summer holiday, Grand Canyon 123, the leader in National Park tours and information, announced today a set of discounts on its most popular 1-day float trips.

"These float trip are ideal for families, couples and groups, " said Keith Kravitz, owner of Grand Canyon 123. “It's one of the most pleasant ways to experienced the Colorado River while seeing the majesty of the Canyon from the bottom up. "

Two Options

There are two 1-day South Rim floats available. The first is a basic package and starts with a 2.5-hour luxury bus ride from Grand Canyon National Park Airport in Tusayan, AZ, to Glen Canyon Dam in Page, AZ.

Travelers are transported to the base of the Dam where the 19-passenger motorized pontoon rafts are docked. “These are adventure-grade rafts, " said Kravitz. “Although there are no white water rapids on these trips, these watercraft can handle them. "

The trip goes 15.3-miles down the River, wending it's way past internationally famous Horseshoe Bend and making numerous stops where passengers can exit the raft and either explore side canyons and waterfalls or hang out on the beach and go swimming.

Lee's Ferry

The float ends at historic Lee's Ferry, an abandoned Mormon fort built during the turn of the 20th Century. “The bus will be waiting for travelers and from there will take them back the South Rim, stopping en route at the Cameron Trading Post where authentic Indian handicrafts are available. "

The deluxe float does everything the basic does but starts with an airplane tour from Grand Canyon Airport to the Page Municipal Airport. “The flight takes 60 minutes versus 2.5 hours by bus, " noted Kravitz. “Further, one gets to see the most of the National Park from the South to the East Rim, which is quite extraordinary. "

The deluxe also comes with a Jeep tour to Antelope Canyon. “The Antelope tour is phenomenal, " said Kravitz. “Antelope is where the wildly beautiful Slot Canyons are located so bring a camera because everything in this particular landscape is incredibly photogenic. “

It's Hot

Summer is hot and temperatures regularly break 100 degrees. Thus it's recommended to pack at hat, sun block, a lightweight long-sleeved shirt and sunglasses. Lunch and beverages are included on both tours but it's still wise to bring along a salty snack and water. Lastly, wear a pair of shorts for swimming and make sure belongings are stashed in Ziploc bags.

There's also a 1-day white water adventure available. Pick up points for this trip are in Flagstaff or Williams. From either location, travelers make a 3-hour drive to the bottom of the Canyon and transfer to 8-man rafts for a 40-mile ride down the river, 18-miles of which feature rapids ranging in class from 1 to 5.

The white water package includes all taxes and fees and lunch and gear. It also includes a helicopter ride from the bottom of the Canyon to the top where the van back to Flagstaff or Williams awaits. “The helicopter ride up is fantastic and takes about 15 minutes before passengers are on top of the rim, " noted Kravitz.
