We continue with our Top 10 Things To Do In Sydney, following on from our recent blog post for Part One. We’ve pulled together some great things to do with your family, whether you live in Sydney or are just visiting! So have a read through and enjoy ….

6. Visit the beaches of Sydney

We have a LOT of beaches and pretty much every one of them is special. However our top recommendations (in no particular order) are;

Manly – Packed at the weekends there is always something going on, surfers in the water, markets, great sea front restaurants for a breakfast with a view and of course some lovely beach time. Catch the Manly Ferry from Circular Quay for a different perspective of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Manly will make you wonder if you are still in Sydney. Also look out for the wind festival (photo below) where you’ll see hundreds of amazing kites on the beach.

Balmoral – Officially part of Sydney Harbour, it lies between Middle Head (which houses a naval base HMAS Penguin) and Sydney National Park. It is home to some great restaurants; Bathers Pavilion and Public Dining Room are especially worth a mention if you want to watch the sun rise in the morning over the Tasman Sea whilst eating a deliciously healthy Eggs Benedict and sipping a large flat white coffee …

Balmoral also has a fantastic Sailing School where you can hire kayaks, have a sailing lesson or stand up paddle boarding, they also run fitness classes at the weekends.

Take the bus from CBD/Neutral Bay to Balmoral (246, 257) which will drop you off on the Esplanade. When you are done head over to Taronga Zoo just round the corner on the 238 where you can jump on the ferry to head back home via Circular Quay.

Tamarama – An amazing beach which is rarely packed on the beach, take some BBQ food or relax on the beach surrounded by gorgeous houses. Be careful of blue bottles and puffer fish.

Bondi – Yep, the one you’ve seen on TVs Bondi Rescue!! This beach is generally heaving with people but it has a great atmosphere and the water is amazing, its an experience that’s for sure!

Bronte – Stop here and do the Bronte to Bondi beach walk, it takes you along 2km of coastline round to Bondi beach via Tamarama. Its a very nice, quiet understated beach and well worth a visit.

Also keep an eye out for the annual Sculptures By The Sea around Bronte – Bondi

Coogee – A really nice beach, somewhat secluded from the others and less busy, also worth a visit. You can also do a walk from Coogee round to Bondi.

7. Visit Paddington

For some amazing boutique shopping, check out the small William Street. Unfortunately Sydney is getting rather compressed with shopping malls popping up everywhere, as such the local shopping areas are suffering. Paddington was once a huge hub of activity and in some ways it still is. Thoroughly recommend a visit here.

8. Visit the Sydney Markets

For some local craft and gift shopping along with a variety of international foods visit one of the many Markets Sydney has to offer. The main ones are located in Paddington, Mosman, Kirribilli, Glebe, Pyrmont, The Rocks. Visit: Sydney.com. au or Local Market Guide for more information.

9. Blue Mountains

Not strictly in Sydney but easily accessible via a train and an absolutely amazing place to see. There is so much to do here and so many small towns surrounding it we could really write an article solely on the Blue Mountains.

We’d highly recommend buying the Scenic World Pass and take in the Three Sisters, Cable car over hanging the valley and one of the most vertical mountain side car rides you can take

:)

Outside of the Blue Mountains is a fantastic town called Leura and Katoomba. Leura has an amazing main street of boutique shops selling lots of local produce, cloths, food etc.

Katoomba is a great location for some outdoor rock climbing. There are a number of companies in Sydney who organise Rock Climbing trips out here and it is well worth it if you are in to this.

In both locations you will find lots of Bed and Breakfast type guest houses available should you want to stay over night, we recommend Kurrara Guest House in Katoomba for a really nice stay with great breakfast services.

10. Browse our website

For some super deals, we have most, if not all of the above posted daily, saving you big discounts on adventures in and around Sydney.

Please leave a comment, tell us your unique thing to do in Sydney we’d love to review and add it to our Top 10 list or even push it out to a Top 20. If you are located in another city and would like to contribute a similar blog post on our website, please contact us with the button bottom right of your screen.

Thanks you for reading and happy holidays.
