Shenzhen is perfect for the whole family. There are quite a large number of attractions that are suitable for visitors of all ages. Whether they are natural attractions or man-made landmarks, Shenzhen will certainly have what it takes to entice the entire family. Shenzhen hotels are also well aware of this, and therefore many offer quite a number of facilities to entertain children and adults.
Without a doubt, the most remarkable attraction within Shenzhen that offers entertainment for the whole family is Happy Valley. Well, it might not sound like much. However, Happy Valley is rated by many as the premier amusement park in East Asia – coming in over the top of Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. The park is divided into themed areas, providing countless rides, shows, arcade games and stores. The only problem with Happy Valley is that it is so big, that visitors may have to return for a second day to see the entire park. Within Happy Valley amusement park is a water park called the Playa Maya, which is a Mayan themed water park.
It may take some persuasion for children to want to go to the Chinese Folk Culture Village, but once they have arrived, they will be nothing but delighted. The miniature park of the Republic of China offers guests a mini look at the most astounding attractions found in the entire country. Some of the mini replicas include the Forbidden City, Terracotta Soldiers, Tibet’s main palace, and the Great Wall of China. The theme park also offers traditional village settings for visitors to explore. However, the most attractive aspects of the Chinese Folk Culture Village are the shows that perform each night. There is even a horse battle reenactment.
For a wonderful evening out with the family, the theme park – Windows of the World, is really an ideal location. The night time performances are renowned throughout the city of Shenzhen, and there is a set of fireworks to thrill the kiddies at the completion of the night. The park is open from about 9 o’clock in the morning, and closes at around 10 o’clock at night.
Although the Safari Park Shenzhen doesn’t have the same atmosphere as other theme parks in the city, it is still quite an interesting day out for the children. Areas of the park have obviously been neglected, which is a shame because there is a lot of potential seen in the park. Luckily, the future of the Safari Park looks bright, as planning is underway to upgrade the park in the near future.
Getting away from the man-made attractions, Shenzhen is also home to a number of beaches that are certainly worth visiting with the family. The Dapeng Peninsula is the main site that contains a large number of beaches, which include Dameisha Beach and Longqi Wan Beach. Swimming is possible during the warmer months of the year, and exploring the national park coastline is quite popular also when visiting this area.
The Minsk World can be quite an interesting day out for kids and adults. It is based upon the aircraft carrier, Minsk, which gives visitors a first hand look at a Russian military airship.
Finally, one of the best hiking spots that can be done by the whole family is the magnificent Wutong Mountain National Park. Climbing up to the top of the mountain is the best physical exercise in the city, and offers the most beautiful night and day views of the city and out over the bay towards Hong Kong. Don’t worry too much about the children, as there are a number of pathways to the summit of the mountain, which vary in difficulty.
