With fall just around the corner it's time to start planning what New York events we're going to attend this autumn. For a large majority of people in New York, fall is their favorite season, gone are the hot, humid days replaced with warm, sunny days and cool nights, the perfect time of the year to get out and do some fun NYC events. The thing that puts me off about attending events in the summer time is the crowds. I'm not sure if it's all the extra tourists in town but going to an event in the fall is so much easier and more pleasant. The great thing about attending events in New York during the fall is that they're not all inside you can attend the football, go to the Italian food festival and watch the runners in the New York marathon. Autumn is great time of the year to get out and enjoy the many events New York has to offer before the cold winter months arrive.
The list of New York events is long starting with the Feast of San Gennaro, little Italy throws on a feast of food, drink and entertainment running from September 11-21. From parades to eating contests, the feast of San Gennaro is a must for any lover of Italian culture. Head to Mulberry Street the heart of little Italy for all the action. If you love films you're going to love the 45th New York film festival, which will premier this year 28 films, held at the Lincoln Center from 26 to October 12. Clint Eastwood's latest film the ‘Changeling’ will premiere at the event. Out of all the New York events the New York City marathon is one of the most recognized sporting events in the world. Starting with just over 100 people in 1970, the race has grown to the largest marathon in the world with over 35,000 people participating in the 26 mile event each year.
No other city in the world does Halloween better than NYC. The Village Halloween parade is a must see event in New York. Each year thousands of people get dressed up in scary and ridiculous costumes and walk the streets of the Village. The parade attracts over 50,000 costumed participates and over 2 million spectators making it a truly unique event to New York. As far as New York events go a trip to watch the city's two football teams is a must, the New York Giants and Jets slug it out each week. While tickets are hard to come by it's still worth trying the respective team websites for ticketing information. Just because the days are getting shorter doesn't mean the list of New York events gets any shorter, they're still plenty of activities to keep you busy right up to end of November.
James has recently moved to New York City and he loves all the options the city has to offer. There are so many events and activities on everyday of the week the hardest problem is choosing which events to go to. He recommends using Metro212 which he believes is a good source for all New York events and nightclub listings, including dating services.
