Some people just cannot do any last minute travel, no matter what. Work schedules and various other commitments and obligations, unfortunately for them, prohibit it.

But if you have the flexibility you certainly have some treats in store for you. Among others, you'll get to go to great places at wonderful prices.

It's been proven time and again that buying travel packages at the last minute can be much better financially than planning for months ahead.

We're all familiar with travel websites such as Expedia and Travelocity. And yes, you can get some of the best travel deals there. But they're not your only options for finding last minute travel bargains.

  • Although Expedia and Travelocity can hook you up with some phenomenal last minute travel packages, if you go directly to a resorts’ website you'll find some other terrific money saving ways to join the last minute travel club.
  • For example, you'll have a tough time finding last minute travel deals at Sandals all-inclusive resorts on the better known sites.

  • But if you call Sandals direct you could find some rather amazing last minute travel bargains.
  • Some people have bought packages for 75% less than others who paid for the same package almost a year in advance.

    How can this happen?

    The answer is simple.

Most resorts would rather have their rooms filled, even at a discounted price, than have them empty for even several days. Empty rooms generate zero profit.

So although it doesn't always happen, it certainly doesn't hurt to ask if any of these bargains is available. Imagine saving 75%. Isn't that motivation enough to “enroll" in the last minute travel club?

  • By the way, the same holds true with hotels.
  • Let's say you want to take a quick weekend getaway.

  • To begin with, hotel rates are often less on the weekend.
  • And if you call them and ask, they may even offer you some last minute travel deals. And you probably won't find these exclusive deals on the better known travel sites.

Being able to simply pack up and head to the airport for some last minute travel is not only a luxury that many people wish that they had, it can also be an incredibly smart way to travel. If you haven't already, maybe it's time to join the last minute travel club. The deals that you just may be able to obtain could be better than someone who booked their plans a year in advance.
