Activities to die for in Nadi

Visitors: 172

Nadi is one of the largest cities in the Fijian archipelago. It sits on the island of Viti Levu, which is the biggest island in Fiji, and contains the only true international airport of the country. Therefore, it is not surprising to find plenty of tourists floating around the city, even though it really isn’t renowned for its tourism.

Nevertheless, while visitors are ‘stuck’(for lack of a better word) in Nadi, they might as well keep themselves busy, and get out of the hotels in Nadi. There are plenty of things a tourist can do to remain entertained for the day or two in the city.

What can one do in the city? Well, there are quite a number of worthwhile options a tourist may like to partake in. For more information, explore the main ideas below, and set your mind alight!

Scenic Flights – the Fijian islands are extremely beautiful, and the city of Nadi is not exception. Even though the city itself is nothing spectacular, it’s the surrounding beauty of the region that keeps tourists coming back for more. The best and most convenient way to see the most scenic views of the area is by flying, and from Nadi, this is made possible from several scenic flight companies operating at the airport. Although it is one of the more expensive tours around, visitors will certainly not be disappointed with sights on show.

Boat Cruises – if flying in a small plane for an hour or two simply scares the bejeezers out of you, then don’t worry, there are other options to explore the beautiful surrounds of Nadi. There are so many different boat cruises operating from the city, including many that travel to the surrounding islands. There is a cruise fro everyone from Nadi. Those tourists who want to visit the islands around Nadi can do so on an island hopping campaign. If visitors are looking for a more romantic time, then there are dinner cruises which venture out onto the water as the sun goes down, which is among the archipelago’s most stunning sunset views.

Market Shopping – shopping is available in the city of Nadi, but mostly in market places. The centre of the city is home to a renowned market place, offering a wide range of goods and merchandise, including vegetables, fruit, handicrafts and second hand items.

Golfing – several golf courses stand in the city of Nadi. There is an 18-hole golf course located just opposite the airport, which means visitors don’t even need to get to their hotel before hitting the course. You gotta give it to the Fijians…nothing but convenience and hospitality.

Scuba diving and Snorkeling – arguably the most important activities for tourism in Nadi, the tours that offer scuba diving and/or snorkelling are as abundant as Fijians in Nadi. The outer islands of the city are home to some of the world’s most spectacular underwater wonderlands, and the Nadi coastline isn’t too shabby either.

Biking tours – several biking tours provide spectacular tours through the region of Nadi, but tourists need to be aware that the tours are quite demanding at times, so are perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. However, biking tours are a great way to see the sites of the city at the tourists own pace too, so if customers are getting tired, it is possible to rest if needed.

River tours – kayaking and river rafts are just some of the boating equipment used for the river tours of the area. Visitors usually leave from Nadi, and tours even provide pick ups and drop-offs from hotels around the city.
