Though Barcelona has some of the best shopping located within its city centre, El Prat de llobregat Aeropuerto, or Barcelona El Prat Airport, also offers a great number of luxury items for last minute or duty free shoppers. Located just 13km southwest of Barcelona’s city centre, it takes anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour to get to the airport depending on the traffic, mode of transportation, and where you are coming from. The distance is much shorter from many Barcelona Airport hotels. Once you have arrived at the airport and gone through security, you will find a large number of shopping opportunities in Terminal 1. There are also some luxury shops located in Terminal 2, though the number is slightly diminished compared to Terminal 1 due to the new constructions of the latter.

There are a variety of shopping genres located in Terminal 1. The airport has everything from fashion to souvenirs as well as unique food items found only in the Catalunya region. For those first arriving, located on Plaza Level 1 in the arrivals lounge is The Airport Market. This is an ideal place to get any sundry items that you may have accidentally left at home. You can also pick up toiletries that you might need if you are in transit between Barcelona El Prat Airport and somewhere else. Whether you are on your way into the city or on the way out, you might also want to visit Divers located on Plaza Levels 1 and 3 where you can buy the latest magazines and newspapers as well as a number of best-selling books in a variety of languages.

If you are looking for some duty free shops, The Express Shop in the departures area is the place to look. The Express Shop sells everything that you might find on the luxury high streets of the most posh downtown areas including brand name cosmetics and perfumes. Alcohol and tobacco are some of the more popular items here where brand names from around the globe can be bought for discount prices. There is a limit on how many duty items you can purchase. Customs allowances vary between countries, so you will need to check with the country of your next destination to be sure about the amount of duty free items allowed in.

For some souvenir and personal items, then you should try Natura. Natura is located in the departures area on Plaza Level 1. The specialty shop specializes in gifts as well as a variety of home wares such as pleasant smelling incense and candles. They also sell beautifully decorated housing goods either for personal use or gifts. If your looking for some children’s items then you might want to consider Story Store where adorable toys and various clothing items can be found. Story Store is located in departures on Plaza Level 1.

There are some other shops at Barcelona El Prat Airport that sell some nice household items including the shop La Mallorquina. La Mallorquina specializes in household fabrics such as bedding. The best thing about buying bedding fabrics in the airport is that they won’t add weight onto your maximum luggage allowance when checking in. The Imaginarium is another great shop if you are looking for educational or novelty toys for your children. Objects range from culturally interesting puzzles to unique toys. There are also some of the more popular games and toys sold that rank highest in countries around the world. For some more entertainment items, Crystal is a great place to go. With international as well as Catalunya cds and videos, Crystal also sells technology items to play various media on.
