The Grand Canyon is the perfect destination for your next vacation. It is an amazing sight to behold and it is one of the top vacation spots in America because of its spectacular beauty.

The best way to see the Grand Canyon is to take a guided tour. There are so many options, you can choose what suits you best whether it is a helicopter tour, motor coach excursion, rafting trip, or tour by airplane.

You should probably read up on the Grand Canyon before taking your trip. Your tour will be more exciting if you have some knowledge about the region. You'll want to know about the scenic formations you should see and the various adventures available, plus you should read about the climate so you know what type of clothing to take along.

To start with, you need to figure out which rim you want to visit. The South Rim is probably the best choice if you are starting out from central Arizona. If you leave from Vegas, you can go to the South Rim or the West Rim. You should be aware there are no flights connecting the rims.

The West Rim, or Grand Canyon West, is the only part of the canyon where choppers are allowed to descend into the canyon and land on the canyon floor. Taking a chopper to the canyon floor is an option you can add on to a bus tour, plane tour, or helicopter tour. You don't want to miss out on this exciting adventure if you can help it.

You can also opt to take a one-day rafting trip for an added adventure, these depart from either rim. The Glen Canyon Dam is the departure point for rafting tours on the South Rim and you can get there by plane or bus. The plane option is a good choice since you will get to see some spectacular scenic views, plus you can take a Jeep ride through the impressive Antelope Canyon. If you are in Vegas and plan to take a tour to the West Rim, you can transfer to a chopper that will take you to the floor of the canyon so you can begin your rafting tour down the Colorado River. Rafting trips are not available during the winter months, so plan your tour between March and November.

All-inclusive tours of the Grand Canyon are probably the most ideal way to go. Then you won't have to worry about planning your trip down to the tiniest detail, the tour operator will figure it out for you. Things included in a package are fees and taxes, lunch, tour guide services, and pickup and drop off at your hotel. Since those fees are usually included, if a company tries to charge you extra for them, you should look for a different tour operator.

Don't buy your ticket for your Grand Canyon tour at the point of departure, in fact, don't wait until the last minute to book your trip. You don't want to do those things for a good reason. Since seats are limited on the tours, if you book yours at the last minute, you will pay more money for it. You will also pay more if you buy your tickets from your hotel or if you buy them from a Vegas Strip kiosk. Not only that, you will have fewer options in tours and departure times.

So, book your Grand Canyon tour as far in advance as you can, and do it on the website of the tour operator you choose. You will be able to use an Internet discount on the tour of your choice and your transaction will be safe and secure. The amount you save could be as much as 35% when you book online. There are some terrific deals you don't want to miss, especially if you need to buy tickets for your family or for a group, because you will save a lot of money using the Internet discount.
