Living in Oregon you are most likely familiar with the river where you can have a little adventure during the summer months. Even if you are not from Oregon you can experience high adventure by white water rafting as a sport or simply as a family adventure.

There are many companies that offer white water rafting. The best way to find the place you will choose to go rafting with is to make a few calls or use the Internet. When you have younger kids you want to take rafting you will need to have a fairly mild trip set up and if you are looking for sport you might go with a tour group on a level five rapid.

If you are experienced you may choose to go without a guide to help you over the rapids. Make certain that everyone going with you is the same level to avoid potential dangers.

A guide will not only offer you their input on how to get over the rapids with out flipping the boat or loosing a passenger, but they can also tell you about the area, the wildlife or plant life you may see, and the names of the rapids you will be going over. When you are looking for a white water rafting center in Oregon you might want to know the rivers available. Also if you do not want to travel a far distance you may be limited in the amount of shops you find. There are usually two or three companies that travel one river.

Oregon white water rafting is an adventure for everyone to experience. Some of the rivers in Oregon are the Snake River and Salmon River. When you go online to find the numbers and make a reservation the sites will often tell you what category the river falls under at certain points. Some rivers are meandering for a point and then turn into a level three or higher so you might find you are taken off the river before you hit the more complicated sites when you are a beginner.

You can also choose to go on all day trips where lunch may be provided or you can go for a couple of hours. If you are a beginner it is recommended that you choose a shorter trip and work up to the all day trips. Some companies may even supply you with an over night trip. You will want to ask your guide about these types of trips.

Oregon white water rafting is an adventure for anyone who is game. You will find a wonderful experience whether you are taking a slow ride over level one rapids or enjoying an adrenaline rush.
