There are cheap flights to Malaga offered by several discount airlines. Malaga is a port city in Andalusia in southern Spain. The Malaga airport is the main airport for tourists travelling to the Costa del Sol region. About thirteen million people use this airport every year and that number continues to grow.

Airlines operating at the Malaga airport offer a wide variety of flights to and from destinations around the world. Flights come and go from this airport to sixty foreign countries and airports throughout Spain. The airport has two terminals at the present time. A third terminal is expected to open in 2008.

Finding Cheap Flights to Malaga

Many large and discount carriers offer flights to the Malaga airport. You can get flight information directly from the airline, through a travel agent or on the internet. If you know the airline you want to fly with, consider contacting them directly for flight information.

The internet is a great place to comparison shop for discount airline prices. Some of the larger travel websites offer information on these airlines, but some concentrate on the bigger carriers. It may take you some time to track down the information you need to get the best deal. But the money you save may make this seem like time well spent.

The best deals are often found for flights within Europe. Some very cheap flights are available from Northern European countries to Malaga. These include flights from The United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany. Many of these are direct flights.

If you are travelling to Spain from North America, you will find there are no direct flights with discount carriers. You will have better luck on flights within Europe. Coming from North America, you can expect at least one layover, if not more. Often, the first stop will be in the United Kingdom or Ireland. There may be another stop at a major hub in Spain before reaching your final destination, Malaga.

About Cheap Flights to Malaga

A certain amount of convenience is sacrificed for better fares. If you don’t want any inconvenience, you may want to spring for a larger airline. Keep in mind that airlines make up the cost of discount tickets by offering fewer services. If you are annoyed with the lack of service, remind yourself of the money you are saving on the ticket.

Discount carriers often restrict the number of bags that you can bring on your trip. Most airlines have rules about the number of carry on or checked baggage. Some discount carriers have even more restrictions regarding baggage. Find out how many bags are allowed when you book your flight. The fees for additional baggage are often more expensive with cheap airlines.

You may have a one or more layovers with discount carriers. The number of layovers will depend on several factors, such as your point of origin, the carrier you choose and the deal. The more stops you have, the better the deal in some cases.

Don’t expect to check in your bags for the first flight and then retrieve them in Malaga. This is not how things are done with lower cost airlines and layovers. You will have to get your bags at each stop and check them again for the next portion of your journey. This means you will need to wait in line at each airport.

Most discount airlines don’t offer refreshments. A meal will not be offered. In some cases, a small snack may be given. You may have to pay for drinks. The money the airline saves on the cost of food and beverages is passed on in lower priced fares. Bring a snack and bottled water for the flight.
