To answer this question one must first understand what one means as ‘good’ as within this statement a very wide variety of parameters can and must be taken into consideration.
In general terms a ‘good’ diamond will sparkle very well and look good in its mount but this is a very superficial way of looking at things.
The parameter of price or value must also be taken into consideration as it would be wrong to say that someone with a small budget will not be able to afford a good diamond.
For the expert diamond cutter a ‘good’ diamond must always be of very good quality of cut, irrespective of its colour and clarity.
For the jeweller a ‘good’ diamond must look as white as is possible when set within its mount so that the customer will be happy with it. In this case much will depend on the colour of the metal, a white metal will require a better coloured diamond in order to show ‘white’ than a yellow mount which will support lower colours.
For the consumer a ‘good’ diamond will of course show as ‘white’ in the ring but will also require that any imperfection cannot be seen with the naked eye as this will impair on its visual beauty.
So the term of ‘good diamond’ is really not that easy to specify and can encompass a vast majority of diamonds within it.
At the Jewellery Web Shop we supply exclusively diamonds which can be identified as ‘good diamonds’ in fact we go to great lengths to fully explain and educate our customers on how to determine the actual quality of cut of a diamond and in this way that the money spent on the diamond will always represent very good value and represent the best possible combination of parameters within the budget on hand.
To use, therefore, the term ‘a good diamond’ in order to describe it is giving the diamond an incomplete description. The diamond should be described as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ as specified if it was to be graded by a reputable diamond grading laboratory.
At the Jewellery Web Shop we always give a FULL and EXACT description to all of the diamonds we offer our customers.
