Retro engagement rings provide a great way for a bride to show some personality. Many brides look to find unique engagement rings, and the retro style offers characteristics that can't be found in modern jewelry designs.

The retro style was predominant in the 1930's through the 1950's, and it overlapped just slightly with the Art Deco time period. Retro jewelry design contain larger, bold sizes and also intricate and flowing designs. Many of the authentic retro jewelry pieces were made with semi-precious stones, with rubies being the most popular.

The retro engagement rings are designed to make a statement. They are perfect for a fun, outgoing girl who wants to have a creative engagement ring instead of choosing traditional designs. Many retro jewelry designs contain multi-colors to add a new dimension that modern rings lack.

They also often include beautiful designs that curve and flow along the lines of the ring. Many times, these designs are worked deep into the metal, creating a 3D effect. You will find that many of the designs are not symmetrical, they are created to surprise and shock.

Most retro jewelry is gold, the retro time period was during the war so other types of metals were in high demand. Rose gold was used for many of the rings, creating a beautiful, soft look that still was bold and beautiful.

Many of the retro ring settings are over-sized to accentuate the design of the ring. They are often designed using illusions to make the stone appear larger. The retro jewelry style is all about big and bold, you can easily make a statement by wearing a retro ring on your finger.

Although, the retro style may not be the most popular ring design among traditionalists today, retro engagement rings are perfect for the right girl that wants to display some style and class.
