If you are like me then you can hardly wait until Christmas is over. The hustle and bustle is over but the best part is yet to come - shopping deals that are simply out of this world. If you think that black Friday is the best time to shop then you have never saved your money for the days following Christmas.
Overstocked merchandise abounds and stores are hopeful to make money and not have this stuff sitting in their back rooms until next year. Any merchandise that is not out on the floor is costing them money. It is imperative to them that they get rid of this merchandise. This means that you and I can get the best shopping deals at this time of the year.
After the holidays are over the stress is generally much less for most people. The kids are back in school. That means that you can get out and enjoy those shopping deals without having to drag the children around. The crowds tend to be quieter although it does depend on where you go. Kohl's is one of my all time favorite stores to get those amazing after Christmas shopping deals. They really know how to put on a sale! I once got $300 worth of clothes for barely $100.
There are other amazing deals to be found as well. Every large retail chain store has major sales after Christmas. Even car dealerships get in on the action and have some pretty great cash back sales after Christmas. I don't have a clue who purchases a car for Christmas but apparently people do? At any rate it is nice to be able to take advantage of a good ‘year end sale’ as they like to call it.
Watch the newspapers for the flyers and the coupons that will be out the day after Christmas. On Christmas Eve there are some stores who will start marking merchandise down in anticipation. They are really doing anything in their power to avoid having to move that stock back to the their store room. They will have to pay employees to box it back up and move it to the back of the store where it will collect dust until next year.
That merchandise isn't going to make them any money or pay any bills while it sits during the Fourth of July holiday. There are also things that will be out of date next year that might be almost worthless to them. Games become old and outdated. You can get great shopping deals on merchandise like this because retailers are nearly desperate to get you to take it home now.
When you think about it this is truly what a buyer's market it. My mother used to do all her shopping for Christmas the next year on the day after Christmas this year. Now I realize that she was a pretty smart cookie and I can see the sense of it all. Don't tell Mom I said that.
