Fond Childhood Memories With Giant Stuffed Animals

When we see giant stuffed animals, they remind us of our treasured childhood days. Giant stuffed animals were our source of comfort during rough times and when we were sick or scared. They, likewise, remind us of the happy experiences we encountered while embracing these soft playthings. As kids grows older, these stuffed toys allows them to connect with their parents, siblings, playmates, favorite pets, ancestral home and anyone or anything related to their childhood.

Stuffed toys are cute and cuddly but the benefits they bring go beyond their aesthetic appeal. They help kids who are feeling depressed due to a traumatic experience such as separation, which can come in different ways. It could mean being the passing-away of a parent or another member of the family. Another way is being separated from his/her family. Still, it could just be a temporary parting like a parent leaving for work or a task in a far place.

Stuffed toy animals function as a security blanket. Kids can, easily, fall asleep when they are beside their favorite stuffed toy. When they wake up in the middle of the night, they feel secure once they see their giant teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal in its big version. These toys are, also, given to victims of calamities as a way of pacifying them.

There is a vast array of stuffed toy animals and these are classified into domesticated pets; farm animals, jungle animals, forest animals, sea animals, birds and prehistoric creatures. They, likewise, come in anime form. The best ones are presented in their large, realistic size. This enables them to be more attractive and huggable.

The very first stuffed toy animal came in the form of elephant pincushions. These were made by Margaret Steiff for the family owned company. These were intended to be given as gifts to relatives and friends. However, kids liked to play with them as toys. This encouraged her to sell them as such. She, also, added other kinds of animals to her other soft toys. WhenRichard, her nephew, joined the company in 1903, he suggested a stuffed bear based on the one he saw at Stuttgart Zoo.

It was a coincidence that at the same time in the United States, a Jewish immigrant named Morris Mitchtom and his wife Rose created a similar one. This was based on the bear cub with President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt in a political cartoon that was featured in the Evening Post. With the permission from the president, they named their creation “teddy bear”.

This most famous stuffed toy came in a wide range of sizes and shaped. This created a craze that lasted for several years. Till now, kids and even adults can't get enough of the teddy bear. Other popular stuffed toy animals include the 1980’s Care Bears and the 1990’s Beanie Babies or beanbag animals.

Giant stuffed animals are the best size of toys that both kids and adults would love to receive. For this reason, they make popular gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day.
