Design: The Sling Adapter is a small, compact size device that actually hides next to the ViP HD DuoDVR. It looks like a grill with a single USB cable and an LED light. This award-winning device for the best design, adds all Slingbox capabilities to the Dish Network 722 DVR or 722k HD DVRs. Its exact dimensions are 0.5 by 7.86 by 3.86 (HWD).

Features of the Sling Adapter:

  • Subscribers can watch all regular Dish Network programs from TV shows, soap operas to musical videos and international programs.

  • Subscribers can watch live video streaming of any game or event delivered by Dish Network.

  • Subscribers can watch the recorded content of the compatible Dish Network DVRs.

  • With the Sling Adapter, subscribers can watch TV on their compatible smartphones, laptops and TVs. Compatible mobile devices include the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, 4.3-inch Android smartphones and tablets, and BlackBerry Bold 9700 and 9000 or Curve 8520 and 8900. subscribers can access all TV content on Windows or Macintosh PC.

  • The Sling Adapter includes all functionalities of the Slingbox such as control the DVR, access Parental control, Picture-in-Picture and others.

  • Requirements to Access the Sling Adapter: The new Sling Adapter blends a number of advanced features. But subscribers need to fulfill a set of requirements to use the Sling Adapter. They are explained below.

Dish Remote Access: For subscribers of Dish Network, Dish Remote Access application is necessary to use the Sling Adapter. The Sling Adapter works in conjunction with Dish Remote Access app. Subscribers have to download Dish Remote Access app on their compatible mobile phone devices and computers. This is good on part of subscribers because unlike the Sling mobile Apps, Dish Remote Access app is free.

High-Speed Internet Connection: To watch Dish Network's regular shows, live broadcasts and recorded content remotely, subscribers’ HD DVR receiver(722k or 722k HD DVRs) has to be connected to high-speed Internet service. Sling Adapter requires a high speed Internet connection to work. The Internet service should have a minimum of 1.5 Mbps downstream bandwidth. For Dish Remote Access Mobile app, subscribers needs at least 150 Kbps upstream bandwidth. Whereas, for DISH Remote Access computer browsers, at least 600 Kbps upstream bandwidth is required. For viewing HD content LAN bandwidth of at least 3.0 Mbps is required.

Routers: Dish Network recommends routers, that subscribers need for various connections to access remote viewing with this Adapter. Subscribers are advised to used routers namely DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router, EBR-2310 Ethernet Broadband Router and WRT400N Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router.

Hardware and Software: Subscribers should have Pentium IV class processor, internet Explorer 7.0 or above, 2 GB or more of RAM and many more.

Set up of the Sling Adapter Connection: The set up of the this Adapter is very simple and easy. Subscribers need to follow the following three steps.

  • First, subscribers have to connect ViP 722 or 722k HD DuoDVR to high-speed Internet Service.

  • Secondly, subscribers require to connect this Adapter to the DVR's USB port and then a message pops up on the TV screen. The message confirms that the set is complete.

  • And at last, subscribers need to log in to Dish Remote Access, using their online Dish Network account, on their compatible smartphones or laptops and start watching TV.
