CVS Pharmacy Online Photos and Walgreens Photo Center Go Head to Head

There are dozens of great online photo services available, but many people prefer to use either CVS Pharmacy or Walgreens Photo Center because it's so convenient to pick up their photos when at their local drugstore.  The advantages of this approach are obvious - if you go your local drugstore at least once a month anyway, it's quick and easy to pick up your digital photos while you're there rather than having to print them out yourself or order them online and waiting to get them in the mail days later.

The people who seem to favor using either CVS Pharmacy or Walgreens Photo Center online are those who've been relying on these same drugstores for years for prescriptions and shopping.  They trust the quality and pricing of the chains for their prescriptions and basics like over the counter medications, cosmetics and toiletries and feel they can trust them for digital photo processing as well.  Since they go to the pharmacy regularly - often to fill prescriptions for maintenance drugs - it's convenient for them to pick up their photos at the same time.  They don't, however, want to have to wait around, so the online digital photo processing offered by these pharmacies is very popular.

Comparing the Services

Both CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens Photo Center offer a wide variety of options for your photo finishing and reasonable prices, so you'll get a good deal for your money.  In fact, it seems fairly obvious that there's a healthy rivalry between these two major drugstore chains for your online photo finishing business.  They both offer prints for between .12 and .15 each and a choice of glossy or matte finishes.  They also have a wide variety of gift options they can create with your photos, including mugs, calendars, magazine covers and puzzles for giving to doting grandparents and other relatives.

There are some differences that may sway you one way or the other if you haven't chosen one of these over the other.  If you want the closest, most convenient pharmacy for you, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens Photo Center both offer very good digital photo services that you'll be satisfied with, so you can choose the drugstore in your neighborhood without being disappointed.  However, if you live in one of the many towns that has a CVS on one corner and a Walgreens two blocks down, you may want to comparison shop, particularly if you frequent both stores.

How do they measure up?

  •        Walgreens Photo Center offers prints for .12 each, while CVS Pharmacy has them for .15 each.

  •        If you're looking for 8X10's of that special photo, you'll be paying about a dollar more for it at CVS.

  •        Although both stores do accept MasterCard and Visa, only Walgreens Photo Center accepts Discover and American Express

  •        If you are fond of photo sharing with friends and family online, the Walgreens Photo Center offers a Group Room option for swapping digital photos with your circle.

  •        Both sites offer quick pick-up.  CVS Pharmacy says you can pick up your online order within “hours, " while Walgreens Photo Center says you can get your photos in “most stores" in an hour.

Overall, Walgreens Photo Center offers slightly more options at a lower price, but both of these pharmacies offer great online digital photo service that's incredibly convenient.  You can upload your pictures on your computer in the morning and pick them up the same afternoon at your corner drugstore for pennies a print!
