We have developed a 5 category system to help bring a more consistent and thorough review process for potential massage chair buyers. We break the review process into 5 important key categories to present the total complete massage chair purchase. This structured system of evaluation assigns equal weight to each of the 5 categories. Each category can earn up to 20 points for a total possible score of 100 points. A score of 100 points would signify the chair and the company have achieved total excellence. The 5 categories included are Warranty & Customer Service, Comfort/Ergonomics, Ease of Use, Features and Massage Therapy. This structured approach helps to remove bias and bring a better balance to the massage chair evaluation process. This review will cover the OM-510 Prestigio massage chair by Omega Massage which is in the 2,000 to $3,000 mid-range price level.

Warranty & Customer Service:
Warranty and customer service is really an evaluation of come from the manufacturer that makes the massage chair. Warranty is important for customer protection and peace of mind. The warranty covers the quality of workmanship of the product. Customer service is the level of response and support received by the company in case something was to go wrong. Omega Massage covers the OM-510 with the following coverage: 5 years for the frame, 3 years on parts, and 90 days in home service. They also provide shipping for parts for 1 year. For a mid range level this is terrific warranty coverage. Omega is known for providing the most comprehensive warranty of the major manufacturers in this category. Our experience with Omega for customer service has been consistent. Omega is responsive and has strong technical competence to diagnose quickly and get issues resolved. The OM 510 is a 19 in Warranty & Customer.

Comfort & Ergonomics:
The comfort of a massage recliner is important, since you may want to use it just to sit. The OM-510 has a soft padded back pad and comes with a shoulder pillow and a head support pillow. Both of these are detachable. The seat is comfortable and supports the body well. Omega also includes an extra removable back pad. This is used to soften the massage if you are more sensitive. This is important as some users want a massage to be lighter than others. The chair is very well designed ergonomically. The footrest cradles the lower body well. The remote control holder is flexible and can be adjusted easily. Overall Rating for comfort and ergonomics is 17.

East of Use:
Like any device with built in electronics, ease of use is a critical concern. A manufacturer needs to design their controls to be intuitive to use. The Prestigio has a great set of massage features built into the chair. The remote is pretty straight forward to use. It has large buttons and a backlit LCD for use in lower light settings. The LCD has icons which show exactly what massage functions are running during the programs. The only non-intuitive feature is switching from automatic programs to manual programs. This is a two step process with this massage recliner. One has to select the mode button and then select the massage technique. Most chairs allow you to select directly. This is the only issue we have seen with this remote control. Otherwise, everything is self-explanatory. Overall rating for the Omega OM-510 for ease of use is 16.

Key Features:
The important features of the Omega OM 510 are the shiatsu massage and the reflexology foot massage. The shiatsu massage is a combination of kneading and tapping in the automatic program. The software program of the OM-510 drives the shiatsu style massage in the automatic programs. It is very effective in loosening up the back, shoulder and neck muscles. It is very thorough and penetrates deeply. The foot wells of this massage recliner have built in reflexology nodes. These reflexology nodes gently push up into the feet providing full body relaxation. The foot massage is done with an air compression massage which provides a firm squeeze, hold and release sequence. If you love a foot massage, this recliner has one of the best we have tried. Overall we give the Omega OM-510 a rating of 18 for its features.

Massage Therapy:
The massage functions are included in the Prestigio includes both manual and automatic massages. The manual massage functions for the back include tapping, finger press, kneading, and Shiatsu. In the automatic massage mode select from 3 timed massages from 10, 20 and 30 minutes. You can also select from 4 back courses. These back courses focus on particular areas of the back. The manual courses include the upper back, lower back, full back and pinpoint. One excellent feature of the Prestigio is its back coverage. It penetrates the lower back or lumbar area very effectively. Much better than most massage chairs on the market today. The lower body massage is covered with an air system. It has effective coverage of the buttocks, thighs, calves and feet. Our overall rating for the Prestigio massage recliner for massage therapy is 19.

How does the Omega OM-510 rate overall? Overall, our rating of the Prestigio is an 89/100. This is a very impressive chair for the mid range level. This is perhaps the most strikingly beautifully designed chair on the market. This massage chair comes with handsome varnished wood armrests and silver accents on the arm supports. It has a warm and contemporary look. Omega adds a handsome wood side table as an extra designer touches. The massage therapies are very thorough and comprehensive. The warranty coverage is terrific. The OM-510 provides for a strong massage, which can be softened with the extra back pad included with the chair. If you are looking for a mid range massage chair, this is one of the best.
