Lego Indiana Jones Sets

Lego Indiana Jones is a theme base Lego set that takes you back to key memorable scenes of the Indiana Jones series. Older sets have been released with themes from Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade. And with the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in May 2008 six more Lego Indiana Jones sets will be released. The sets will range in price from $9.99-$79.99 depending on the accessories and characters.

As for collectability, as you would expect the older set are more valuable than the new sets. Not just because they are older but mainly because of the availability of the sets. You may not know it but the merchandising for the first three movies was not as successful. Many stores had overstocks of everything Indiana Jones including Indiana Jones Figures, trucks and especially Indiana Jones Lego sets.

As a result, toy sellers have a large collection of old Lego Indiana Jones sets laying around that they are pricing a lot higher this time. With low stocks and not as many to go around collectors are willing to pay these higher prices just to get their hands on these sets.

But there are controversial matters surrounding these Lego Indian Jones sets. It is mainly surrounding the presence of Nazis as villains in the themes sets. Lego took that steps to solve this controversy by depicting the German soldiers in generic khaki uniform devoid of any Nazi insignia. The nature of the religious overtone with the film also hit a sensitive spot with some people. Lego also took steps to resolve this issue also. In the Lost Tomb set Lego took care to replace the ark with the gold treasure chest for the Race For the Stolen Treasure set. I still think they should have kept the Ark in the set.

Looking forward, Lego also has rights to release a Video game titled Lego Indiana Jones: The original Adventures. This game should be release around June 3, 2008. Look out for it in stores.

Lego has always been in the forefront with relevant merchandise that is kid friendly and just plain fun. And with the Indiana Jones series Lego has not missed the mark with any points.
