Time management is a topic that is discussed regularly by businesses as well as people who work at home. Yet, most people do just that, only talk about it, and never make changes that will produce positive outcomes in both their business and personal lives.
Time can get away from you very easily so it is important to first find out what it is in your life that is eating up too much time. Write down what you do during a typical day and look for the time wasting activities that you can control.
If you check your email in the morning, what do you look for first? If you look for emails that you want to delete, that can be a huge waste of time. Instead, read only the emails that are a high priority. Then, take another five minutes or so to read others that may be of interest, and then delete the rest. Also, don't check your email more than three times a day. If something is that urgent, someone will call you about it.
If you have a family there are probably many things that you must do to get ready in the mornings. See what you can delegate to others and what must be completed only by you. Do not turn on a television set in the mornings because you will not be able to mentally prepare for your day and you will be distracted by things that have no affect on your life.
Having a long commute through traffic can also eat away at your time. Listen to educational CD's or teleseminars on an mp3 player to make better use of your time.
Our time is precious, so we must manage it well.
