Many of us have lived a “default life". Went to school, grew up, took up further studies based on percentage scored, started working in a job that selected you (as against the one you selected!), got married ‘coz it was time to, had kids because that was the next logical thing to do and then did your best to be the perfect parent. And then one fine day, we feel, life has passed us by.
Human living is full of experiences. Fear, anxiety, anger, loneliness, anger, regrets, grief, guilt. . We don't even realize that all these natural emotions we experience maybe suppressed or processed by us in an unhealthy way.
We experience traumatic events and we continue to be affected by them even when they are not relevant anymore. Although we want to experience more emotional freedom, we may not know an easy and gentle way to do it. And life goes on.
All these suppressed emotions are stored in our bodies and result in arthritis, heart disease and what-have-you.
I have had people tell me about how one incident in their childhood has made them believe that they will always be a failure and that stopped them from exploring their ideas and potential and living a life of Grace.
The best way to do a self “health-body check" is to take a deep breath, exhale and relax, close your eyes and take your awareness to different parts of your body, from head to toe.
Gently, as you pay attention, is your shoulder screaming saying “Hey Buddy, you may need to get a new chair that allows me to rest comfortably", is your neck giving you a gentle nudge and prodding you to release some past experiences or people that have now become “a pain in the neck", is your chest telling you to “gently let go of some heavy burdens"?
What is your body trying to convey to you? Is it whispering to you or has it already started screaming?
