Your heart is racing. Your face is flushed. And words are coming out of your mouth that not even the saltiest sailor dares to use. You are angry. Oddly enough, getting angry can be a good thing. It can help you lead a happier and more satisfying life. Here's how :
1. Anger makes you take action. When you are angry you refuse to accept the status quo. Angry women take steps to make their situations better. Angry women refuse to settle for low pay, infidelity, disrespect or abuse. Anger motivates you do the things necessary to be happier.
2. Anger helps you release unresolved bad feelings. When you vent, you let go of all the bad feelings you have been keeping inside. Studies show that internalizing problems can lead to stress related health problems like headaches, ulcers, and indigestion. On the other hand, getting a little angry may allow you to deal with your issues and hopefully get past them.
3. Anger can improve your self-esteem. When angry people speak, others usually sit up and pay attention. If you are an unassertive person, the attention you receive can make you feel more important and respected.
4. Anger helps you know your personal limits. Have you ever heard someone say she has reached her breaking point? Or perhaps, someone “has gotten on her last nerve". These are signs that someone has reached their personal boundary. Anger is your warning signal that you are way outside of your comfort zone. Recognizing when you have reached this point, helps you to warn others when they are pushing you too far.
