Luke 21: 37 Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives, and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.
This is an interesting and informative verse of scripture. Why did the writer tell us about the daily routine of Jesus? In reviewing the behavior of Jesus there is much to learn and many things to emulate.
I can't help but wonder what Jesus thought about when He spent the night on the Mount of Olives. Could it be, He thought about the night He would struggle with the decision to take the cup of death? Maybe He didn't give it a second thought but I believe He did. He knew that one day the night would come to begin the suffering and travel the road to the cross to purchase His beloved children.
It is a given, during those long night on the Mount He communed with His father. What heavenly visions could he have seen and felt? We can only imagine.
He taught all day and He communed with God and slept and then repeated the ordeal for and undisclosed, period. What is your schedule like? Does it include time with God? Do you spend time with Christ, Him teaching and you learning from His Spirit? He is still teaching you know. He is still going to the temple on a daily basis but now the temple is in you heart. He wants us to know Him and He wants to impart to us the secrets of His love.
I challenge all of us to take time to allow Christ to speak to our hearts and move in a fresh way with a new message about who He is and what He wants to do in our life.
