How to Avoid Blushing

Blushing excessively can really make a shy person go red as a tomato.

Though it is as natural as digesting food, people have gone out of their way just to find help, either psychological or physiological in nature, just so they will be able to control or avoid blushing completely.

Biologically speaking, blushing is when the blood vessels in your face expand and this causes the deep shade of red to flood your face, usually from the ears to the neck.

This usually occurs when someone goes through an embarrassing situation where he or she is in the spotlight of the joke, which actually makes the situation worse for the person because then everyone can see the blushing and make more jokes out of it.  

In order to avoid blushing, you have to learn how to let go of all your inhibitions and just accept that life can be tough and humiliating, so let go.

In some cases, excessive blushing can be caused by serious medical reasons and should therefore be handled by a doctor or dermatologist.

Interesting ways to avoid it would be to think of events that make you relax and feel good about yourself, take deep breaths to hamper the process of blushing, and by biting the lower lip or inner cheek.    

Blushing, when not treated, can prove to be destructive for you.   You might fall back and isolate yourself because the blushing will then reveal that you are very much affected by the joke or the embarrassing situation.
