Earl Nightingale is a former soldier and a businessman. He practically invented the “self-help" industry when he was a sales manager and decided to write and record messages to his sales team that were motivational, educational and inspirational.
When Nightingale discovered what he called “The strangest secret in the world" he as looking to find out what was wrong with men. He wrote and spoke early enough in time that the use of the word “men" instead of “people" was more common and acceptable than it is now. He wanted to find out what made some men successful and others not.
He claims to have discovered it finally after decades of reading and study and of watching people and their actions and reactions. He found that the secret was “we become what we think about. "
If we think about failure, that is what we will attract. If we think about success, we shall have it. Nightingale believed that men attracted into their lives that which they pondered, and it was that before all else that would determine our place in life.
So what action steps can we take right now to ensure that we use this information to bring success into our lives?
First, we can stop harboring negative thoughts, and its easier than you think. Remember that the mind can only hold one thought at a time, negative or positive. So if you find yourself beginning to dwell on the negative, you can quite easily turn it into a positive. It will take practice, but it will be well worth it.
