How to Make A Difference In Our Society Today

I am not sure about you but a lot of people I know do not have the beliefs that they could actually make a difference in the society. That's the reality and the fact is, each and everyone of us has the ability to excel in anything we want to do, if we want to.

In this post, I will share with you the secrets of how you can make a difference in the society today. How?

IT STARTS WITH YOURSELF

"It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always. " - Oprah Winfrey

This is not a motivational quote. In case you do not know, there is a seed planted inside you long ago before you even realize yourself as a human being. This seed is called the seed of greatness.

Do you have times when you wish to be someone really great? Like being a very successful businessman, motivational speaker, a very good musician, beauty pageant or being a songwriter for the famous artists?

I am sure you have. I, myself have thoughts like that too. Often people call them dreams and these are the seeds planted inside you. There is always something you really want to do or want to be, inside you.

Having a seed in you is not enough. You need to cultivate it and make it grow. If you want to see beautiful flowers blossom, you will need to take time to plant the seed, water it, take good care of it and make sure it is not being eaten by bad bugs.

It is the same the taking care of the seed inside you. If you have always desiring to be a very good dancer, stop desiring and just take the neccessary steps to be one. If you want to be a successful businessman, start selling something, build contacts and networks so that you will have enough resources to get you where you want to be.

Tiger Wood set his goal to be the world #1 golfer when he was 3. He had a seed and cultivated the seed until it has become something really massive. Look at how successful and influential Tiger Wood is today.

BUT I AM A NOBODY!

One major hindrance that stops people from cultivating their seeds is their belief system. I've shared this in my ‘Meet Azali - The 21As Student’ and you can read more about it.

I have heard a lot of people said that they are a nobody. I used to think that I was a nobody too. This kind of midset will definitely make one's life feel much better about themselves and it will not lead a person to an empowering life.

If a person thinks that he is a nobody, it is he, himself, who decides that he will start to be a somebody.

My leader used to tell us, if you are looking at a girl and you do not believe that she's never going to like you, she never will.

"Whether you think you can or can't, either way you are right"

- Henry Ford

So do not let this setback hinders you from cultivating your seed. You know you deserve much better things in life. If you have a seed inside you and you do not cultivate it, it becomes dormant (powerless) in your life.

ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY

So now that you have the desire to triumph and you will start to be a somebody from a nobody. The next and last step is to step out to accept the responsibility. This is the real secret of making a difference in the society today.

If you are working as a full time employee, you will see a lot of your colleagues mumbling about what they have been doing. They would avoid from being called by the boss or supervisor to the office because they do not want to do extra work.

They are happy with what they are doing and very seldom, they will try to find ways to make things better. They just get by.

If you want to be influential, you need to go to the other extreme, which is to take up the responsibility to solve a problem in the company.

Allow me to tell you the story of Joseph and the King of Egypt.

Joseph was being imprisoned by the King of Egypt, together with the lions.

Then one day, the King had a dream and he could not understand what the dream meant. So he ordered all the magicians and sorcerers to interpret the dream in the palace. No one was able to interpret what the dream meant.

Joseph knew about the news and he offered himself to interpret the dream for the King. He knew very well in his heart, is he could not interpret the dream, the King would have Joseph's head chopped off.

Joseph insisted to take the responsibility because he knew that it was the only chance he could get himself out from the prison.

So he interpreted the dream in front of the King and the King was very impressed with what he did. The King found wisdom in Joseph and the next thing Joseph knew was that he was appointed as the second most powerful person in Egypt.

See friends, Joseph took the responsibility and risked his life to have his head chopped off. He made his way there and he was making a difference in his society. None of the magicians and sorcerers were able to interpret the dream the King had.

I am not asking you to risk your life to have your head chopped off. The secret is, if you are willing to step out to take up a responsibility, for yourself or your boss, you are already making a difference in the society because majority of the employees, they wouldn't want to.

Sincerely,
Clement Chee
