Theology & Theologians or Bible Intellectuals & Bible Intellectualism - Part 5 The 'Church Fathers'

Pressing on, let's get straight to it with the exposing of the next phoney or Hellenising philosopher who rendered the Word of God to none effect by teaching a self-improvement non-gospel. Next up:

Ignatius

Get a load of this, from his piece on ‘spiritual exercises':

General examen of conscience: To purify oneself and to make one’s confession better.

Since when did we start purifying ourselves through ‘spiritual exercises'? What a load of religious meaningless garbage. Now compare his blasphemous nonsense with the glorious Truth of The Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Every man that puts his hope i. e. faith and trust in The Lord Jesus Christ purifies himself even to the degree of being as pure as The Lord Himself. How simple and straight forward is that, and not an exercise, spiritual or otherwise, in sight? It is Faith in Jesus Christ that purifies us - He purifies us - nothing we do can do that, not a single thing!!

Now what of this issue of our examining ourselves and what did Paul mean by this term? Here it is from 2 Corinthians:

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

I have underlined the important parts of this verse as this is what we should be examining ourselves for; to see if we are in the faith or whether or not Jesus Christ is actually in us otherwise as Paul correctly states, we are reprobates. This verse has nothing to do with self-improvement via self examination. The Lord Jesus Christ does all the examining of us through trials in this life and through His exercise programme for us. Why, because He loves us and wants to see us grow in faith - real faith? Why, so that He can give us our rewards in the Kingdom of God, presently stored in Heaven?

What Paul is actually saying here to these people is this: “Look, do you believe or don't you - are you in the faith or not as there is no half way house. If you don't know, then you need to examine whether The Lord Jesus Christ is in you or He is not in you - if He is not in you then you are reprobates". Err, just like Ignatius. Well look at that, we've come full circle, would you believe it? You had better, ‘cos it's the Truth and another counterfeiter is exposed.

As a PS, please read my article “Is repetitive confession of sins Biblical?" to answer this blasphemer's comment: "and to make one’s confession better". Right, who is the next candidate for this joint spiritual booby prize of being counted least in the Kingdom of God? Ah yes, Mr Martyr!

Justin Martyr

Justin Martyr from whence we get the term Martyrdom or to give him his real, condemnatory, name: Justin the Philosopher, and he was just that - a Hellenising philosopher or Bible intellectual. You see, they always, without fail, give themselves away and condemn themselves by their own hands and/or by their own utterings. I am not judging these people, for coming to obvious conclusions about them, is not judging. I, as a son of God, don't have to say a word as these people say it all about themselves, and staggeringly, without even realising it - such is their Spiritual blindness and puffed up intellectual arrogance. All I have to do is a little highlighting.

Oh yes, Mr Martyr the Roman Catholic, he's the man they named the act of ‘dying for The Lord’ after. Thousands and thousands of people, like him through history have died, purportedly for The Lord Jesus Christ, and thereby have been called martyrs. The thing is did they, and he, actually do that or did they/he - horror of horrors, not die for The Lord at all but, rather, died in vain? In other words, did they only die for a meaningless religion and not for The Lord Jesus Christ? Let's find out more about this Mr Martyr and see what he said and thereby find out.

As an opener we have this from: "History of the Christian Church Volume II: Ante-Nicene Christianity AD 100-325" - Schaff. “After his conversion Justin sought the society of Christians, and received from them instruction in the history and doctrine of the gospel. He now devoted himself wholly to the spread and vindication of the Christian religion. "

Here we have giveaways galore that reveal his Bible intellectual credentials and Catholicism; he sought out the real Church and received instruction in the history and doctrine of The Gospel. Hello? Excuse me!! He received what!? Instruction in the history and the doctrine of the Gospel - how does that work then? The Gospel is a message, the Good News message of salvation and the Kingdom of God - The Good News, and it is preached, which means it's declared as any news would be. The Gospel isn't a doctrine, the word ‘doctrine’ means instruction and you don't instruct news you declare it or preach it. The hearer then either responds and believes the news or considers it irrelevant and it has no effect on him or her at all. If we rewrite this sentence correctly it will look like this: “and received from them instruction in the history and instruction of the gospel" If you do a search of Holy Scriptures you will not find the words ‘doctrine’ and ‘gospel’ together for the simple reason The Gospel is a message that is preached or declared not an instruction or doctrine. Bear in mind also that for ‘instruction’ we should read ‘legalism’.

Having revealed one monumental gaffe what did he do next? He devoted himself wholly to the spread and vindication of the Christian Religion - which proves he is a counterfeiter. All in all, this paragraph is actually telling us the opposite of its intended meaning - a real bullet through the foot if you like! Basically, all it's telling us is this: He went and found a gathering of True Believers or a group of The Elect, learnt what he wanted to know and then went off preaching and briefing against them with his Christian Religious non-gospel.

This blasphemer was also responsible for teaching the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Eucharist i. e. the bread and wine are literally the body and blood of The Lord Jesus Christ. From (The Ante Nicene Fathers, p. 185, chap. LXVI, entitled, " - of the Eucharist, " the prior chapter is entitled, “Administration of the Sacraments") "And this food is called among us Euvcaristia [the Eucharist], of which no one is allowed to partake but the man who believes that the things which we teach are true, and who has been washed with the washing that is for the remission of sins, and unto regeneration, and who is so living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh. "

For those of you who don't understand what this means I will explain: it means each time they hold this event they are literally crucifying The Lord Jesus Christ over and over again. I trust you will now see Mr Martyr in his true light or should I say his true darkness - his ‘reward’ awaits him, and rather him than me!!

Ok, that's two more philosophizing sons of the Devil exposed and stay with it folks as I will reveal some more of these blasphemers next time - they're a dime a dozen.
