As a business coach or executive coach having a high Internet page rank is necessary to separate yourself from all the other coaches. With coaching industry growing almost as fast as the Internet traffic, your website must be optimized, search engine friendly and provide value to all of your visitors who hopefully will turn into paying clients.
Research suggests that more and more people are using the Internet to secure information about professional services. A report released earlier this year by the Pew Internet and American Life Project revealed that between January and June of 2006, 67% of the American adult population goes online with 68% being male and 66% being female.
Many business coaches, executive coaches and even life coaches fail to understand how some simple actions can have a dramatic impact on the traffic to their websites. If these individuals have access to their sites, they can begin to make slow and steady progress in moving their page rank up and increase their traffic. Remember - Slow and steady wins the race.
First, return to your strategic plan and look to your target market along with services. With all the coaches in this booming industry, your strategic action plan should include goals specific to niche markets such as real estate coach, financial advisor coach, or small business coach. NOTE: If you don’t have a strategic plan (who does what by when), stop, do not pass go, do not collect $100. Create a strategic plan right now. Otherwise your marketing actions may be counter productive to your desired results.
Next, secure access to your website. With the majority of all coaches making $20,000 or less and only 9 out of 100 earning more than $100,000, most coaches have limited resources. Having access to your website to make some basic changes is both efficient (doing things right) and effective (doing the right thing).
Then load the Google Tool bar onto your browser. This nifty tool will tell you your Google page rank from 0 to 10. With 60% of all searches being done on Google, start with seeking a high Google page rank as your marketing goal and then add Yahoo. NOTE: If you are approached by a company that is selling search engine optimization (SEO), you can quickly check their Google Page Rank. If the SEO expert does not have at least a Google page rank of 4, be cautious of spending your limited marketing on their recommendations.
Using free sites that provide data, such as Inventory Overture , on key words, determine the key words represented by the content within that page on your site. These key words should be the first words on the title bar of each web page. NOTE: The title bar is that blue strip with the white letters at the very top web page. Do not begin your title with the name of your company. A quick Inventory Overure search will determine how many times someone searched for your company. Usually, the result of this search is zero.
Finally, begin rewriting your copy. Main key words should be in the first paragraph or title within the content on your page. Keyword density should range between 1% and 3% per every 100 words.
