Persecution Empowers Christians

Paul Kauffman, founder of Asian Outreach, has written about the move of God currently sweeping through the Asia Pacific Region in his book Fire on the Rim. The fires of revival are burning so bright that nothing can stop what God has begun and intends to finish. As we come to the end of the age, every nation must hear the good news of Jesus Christ. The followers of Christ in many parts of Asia have received God’s Word in much affliction and yet with the joy of the Holy Ghost (1 Thes. 1:6). Let them be examples to all of us (v. 7). Here is an excerpt from Fire on the Rim.

“From 1950 through the late ‘70s the outside world heard little or nothing about the Church in China. Communist propaganda and even Churchmen that visited China during those years told us that Christianity had been replaced by Communism. The Church in China was dead, they claimed.

In fact, the communists had done everything in their power to kill the Church. They had not only closed all the churches, arrested all the pastors and many lay Christians, but had resorted to killing those that they deemed unwilling to follow the party line. History has repeatedly shown that persecution has a reverse effect upon the Church – but the communists did not know this.

The sufferings of the Church in China were not unlike that experienced by the New Testament Church. Christians were beaten, starved, exiled, buried alive, and sentenced to years of slave labor. Possibly, the full story of their suffering will never be told but as one Christian put it, ‘I thank God for the communists. If I had not suffered so much at their hands I wouldn’t know God as well as I know Him today. ’

Jesus hones His Church in the fires of persecution. Persecution pushes us to our knees and compels us to pray.

The above excerpt has been taken from Paul Davis’ book “Holy Ghost Fire or Hellfire? The inescapable choice. " Other books by this author include “Breakthrough for a Broken Heart, " “Stop Lusting & Start Living, " and the forthcoming “God vs. Religion. "
