What are you trying to accomplish with your life? Too many people and Christians are more concerned with the things of this world than their spiritual life. They think if they have enough money or material things life will be great.
There is nothing wrong with making money, even a lot of money, but your trust should not be in money but in the Lord.
“He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. " The material things of this world are fleeting, here today and gone tomorrow. You can not depend on them always being available. If your life is centered on those things when they disappear you will be defeated.
Jesus instructed his disciples to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. " Matt.6:33. Seek his righteousness by yielding your life to His word and will. Your desire should first to be like your Lord and Savior and let Him use you as He wants.
Money is needed to buy the necessities of life. It is needed to help the poor. Money is a good thing when used properly. However, it can be destructive to the one that puts trust in it before trusting in the Lord. What are you putting your trust in? Do you believe that God will bless you here and now and in his coming kingdom if you put Him first?
All through the Bible you see God rewarding faithfulness. Jesus said “And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. " Rev. 22:12. What are your works? Are they for your good or do they bring glory to God. What is your reason for accumulating wealth? Do you want it to help others or to consume it on yourself? Your motives are what concerns God.
Be righteous and “flourish as a branch". Use what God allows you to have to meet the needs of others. You will be laying up treasures in heaven that will never fail or cause you to fall. They will bring a rejoicing for eternity when you hear Jesus say “Well done good and faithful servant.
