How To Plan A Wedding Reception And Make The Most Of The Occasion

A wedding is a fantastic occasion in a person's life, but they can also be the most stressful and exhausting process that people have ever experienced. So few people ever realize the planning and organisation that needs to take place before the wedding and hence they walk into the arrangements with their eyes firmly shut expecting it to be a stroll in the park. Little do they realize.

With so many things to organize and arrange for a wedding it is surprising that any body ever takes the plunge. The arranging of the venue for the wedding, the dress for the bride and groom for the wedding, the honeymoon and finally the wedding reception after the ceremony are all major things that within themselves have another ten or twenty smaller details that need sorting. With this in mind it is the planning of the wedding reception that I would like to share with you today.

The wedding reception can take on two totally separate forms, you can have the very formal sit down post wedding meal with all of the very close family as well as very good friends in which the speeches are made and the toasts are made, or alternatively you can go straight to a less formal party type reception in the evening where everyone celebrates the couples happy marriage. It is possible, if you really wanted to, to hold both a formal sit down post wedding meal in the afternoon and then move on to the less formal evening party later on in the day. This type of reception is getting more popular but only where the immediate family is very small and a more concentrated family meal can be held in the afternoon.

Wedding receptions in many cases can turn out to be as expensive as the actual wedding itself if things are not looked into properly. Many catering companies see wedding receptions as a license to print money and add a premium onto any quotation when pricing a wedding. I would always recommend looking around to find a well respected catering company that comes recommended to cater for the wedding. If you are still not happy with the prices that you have been quoted why not approach a local restaurant that you may use and ask them if they would be willing to provide the catering. You will usually fond that the food they will provide will be of a better quality than that of many catering companies as well as the food being of a higher standard. Restaurants are very protective of their reputation and hence would not want to let you down or over charge you. What better way to say wedding toasts and receive inexpensive wedding favors than over a lovely meal prepared for you by a quality restaurant.

If you are working on a shoestring budget why not see if any members of the family would be prepared to provide a buffet type reception lunch? Generally family members are only too willing to get involved and help out with these types of requests. It is always worth remembering that family members love to be involved but are usually too scared to ask if you need any help. Any help you are offered you would be wise to accept.
