Seems like these days, people are breaking up and getting divorced every turn you take. There are so many factors out there now to intervene in relationships and cause breakups that it's almost unheard of people staying together for more than five or so years. That's a sad fact, but true. If you have someone that you just can't seem to get over no matter what the circumstances were of the breakup, try these tips to getting back together. Making it work would be worthwhile if you know for sure this is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
- Remember the old cliche that absence makes the heart grow fonder? This is so true! How long you have been apart from your ex may determine if you will have a chance of putting things back together. Sometimes that time apart is all the medicine any broken relationship needs. Give the other person enough time to sort out the break up.
- Determine what caused the breakup. Was it something that you could have prevented? Was it something that you did? Answer these questions truthfully to yourself before getting in touch with your ex. Make sure you are ready to show your earnestness to work through things to get back together with ex before you make the move of contact.
- Talk to friends of your ex, if possible, and see how that person has been fairing without you. This could be an indicator of your approach to getting back together. Have they been avoiding social situations? Have they been seeing other people? Ask around and gather what information you can before suggesting the idea of getting back together.
- Make some changes in yourself. Be the one you were when you and your ex first met. If there were problems in the relationship you feel were your fault, fix them. For instance, if you went out with your friends more than you spent time with your ex, tell your friends that you think this person is worth trying to get back and cut out the hangout time some. You don't have to stop seeing them, just don't make the same mistakes over again in the relationship. Instances like these are something that you will have to prove have changed in you and this will take time.
- One of the most important things to remember in trying to put back together a relationship is don't rush things. Take the steps slowly, and a little dose at a time. Putting together a relationship is like putting together a thousand piece puzzle. You have to take a little piece at a time and find where it goes.
Trying to get back together in a relationship may be one of the hardest things you've ever done. However, if that person seems worthwhile to you, the end result could be a lifelong relationship with the one you truly love. Take your time and enjoy just being back around that person. Just see how it goes.
