Women Seek Women For Many Reasons

Visitors: 298

It’s a man’s world. Or so goes the saying. If so, there is little wonder women would seek out women for improvement, shared interests and commonality. While the “glass ceiling” exists, studies point to women as eminently qualified, competent, and comfortable with themselves and colleagues.

Education is not the only arena for recognition and advancement. Moreover, statistically women are not a numerical minority and live longer. Hence there is a greater need for comaraderie.

Today, responsibilities are greater as work must be juggled with other household chores such as family or the notion (common to all) that “pink-slips” are around the corner. Association with other women is not just helpful and convenient; results are more fruitful and potential facilitated. It can also be a catalyst for growth. Not surprisingly, in many, travels I see women wend their way through the world; they support each other in myriad situations. Seminars created- by women aimed at women- run the gamut from assistance with business start-ups, travel, and support groups to merchandising. Small and Middle size Enterprises (SME’s) have seen monies earmarked for them; many home operated businesses are originated by women.

But there’s more.

Real Estate companies are headed by women. No wonder.

Ladies are as thorough, creative and competitive as anyone. It is not a time-filler but a full-time profession- one in which they can express their passion and imagination. Hence, a need to decompress! Travel is one such option.

View TV and online ads. Nearly all prominently feature a woman or women in the promotion. Exotic locations are featured in such ads; women on safari, on camels, feasting on regional dishes and, of course, dancing until the wee hours are pervasive.

It’s obvious- women are adventurous and like to travel! Maybe, as my sister who journeys with her husband is completing a “bucket list” before they kick it! They comprise a huge market for the industry. At a recent conference this was apparent when I engaged several women who were traveling central and Eastern Europe. Prior to the journey they knew each other only from online ads attempting to connect itineraries and seeking others to join them for friendship and security. But many reasons have little to do with profession, travel or merchandising parties.

A key element of women seeking women is support. It encompasses such dire problems and provides sustenance at such times, notably in the area of female diseases such as, but not limited to alcohol in the family, cancers, problematic pregnancies and aftercare. Here, women sharing their experience, hope and strength can be helpful at a most critical juncture in their lives. That another human being has an understanding of a similar situation is comforting and just one of several reasons that women seek women’s support. Ladies use online sources such as and others to connect.
