There is a huge demand for nurses in the US as a result of which many nursing schools have opened up but there is always a need to extensively research a school or university before enrolling in a nursing program.

There are many well known organizations which have ranked various nursing schools which would help you in selecting the best nursing program in the country. But more the number of organizations more would be the differences in their lists.

To start with, US News & World Report comes up with a list of ranks to educational institutes. There will surely be a list specific to nursing universities which would be helpful to you in making your decisions. Every year there is a general list consisting of best nursing graduate schools. Other lists can be about specialized nursing courses such as administration, family/adult/pediatric/geriatric/surgical or psychiatric nursing.

The criteria for making these lists has peer reviews, results in the tests and other factors like faculty, alumni and tuition costs.

Most of the publications and websites publish these rankings which are easily accessible through the net.

Another credible organization is National Institutes of Health. The funds through this organization help in the development of medical research, nursing schools and universities. On the basis of these funding, only the ranks are given. The rankings by NIH are respectable because it shows how well a college or university is doing within the medical community.

Further there is a huge improvement in online nursing courses. OEDb, Online Education Database guides those students who wish to study undergraduate nursing courses. An exhaustive list of accredited online colleges is also provided.

Princeton review is also one of the pathfinders that will bring in light the names of top nursing schools in US.

There is also a new source that provides relevant knowledge to junior college students. It is CCW (Community College Week) that offers ranking lists based on a single criterion that is the total number of degrees given by colleges.

Researching through these lists is indeed a great way to find out which nursing school suits you but it has to be kept in mind that the so called best program may not be personally the best for you. Thus the nursing university that suits your aspirations the most has to be the best.
