Career options after 12th Science with PCM

The joy of passing the 12th Standard has not yet subsided and you are already anxious about the road ahead of what career path to choose which would enable you to create a mark in your professional journey. This time is crucial and the decision you are going to make after your 12th Standard is practically going to change everything about your life. So be careful, think deeply before jumping into any conclusion of choosing one particular field as your career.

Before taking any step, you first need to gauge where your passion lies and what you want to achieve in life. This is critical because without knowing your passion, picking a career can be a dead-end for you in future. So best thing to do is to understand your underlying passion and your level of interest. Well, with a number of career options available students are often lost as what would be the perfect career. As soon as, a student completes his 12th Class with PCM, he would start thinking of becoming an Engineer. Even though engineering is one of the best career options, there are other lucrative careers that may be perfect just for you. Here are few of the career opportunities for science students with PCM after 12th Class:

Engineering: It is one of the most sought after career options and considered as very lucrative career. A student can study B. Tech course for 4 years and can join any of the MNCs or public sector undertakings. If the student is willing, he can continue to study his M. Tech degree right after B. Tech, to complete his studies before joining anywhere. Today everything revolves around technology whether it is business or personal interactions via online medium, so a career in the technical field has immense opportunities. Engineering is divided into various branches:

  • Automobile Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering

  • Electronics & Communication Engineering

  • Industrial Engineering

There are different job roles available after completing engineering such as Database Administrator/Database Programmer, Software Tester, Software Developer, System Designer, System Analyst, and Hardware Engineer. There are thousands of great engineering institutes in India and the best among them are – IIT, BITS, DTU, and NIT.

Pharmacy: The field of Pharmacy is great as a career option. Under-grade pharmacy course are of 4 years and then willing students can go for post-graduate degree. After completing the pharma course, students can join the medical industry as one of the following:

  • Drug Technician

  • Drug Therapist

  • Health Inspector

  • Pathologist

  • Pharmacist

  • Research & Development

  • Research Officer

  • Scientist

There are well-known colleges and pharmacy institutes in India where students can study pharmacy – Amrita School of Pharmacy, Banaras Hindu University, Delhi Institutes of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research, and J. S. S. College of Pharmacy. It is a job oriented field, where bright students can stand the chance to build a great career.

Architecture: Students who are naturally imaginative and creative can think of taking up of B. Architecture course. The course teaches how to plan, construct buildings, and utility structures, for business requirements. It is a 5-year program which can be pursued in one of the reputed technology institutes in India and a short internship of six months is great to have. After completing bachelor degree, a student can study masters in architecture. It is one of the lucrative careers and is popular among lakhs of students. There are ample job opportunities for Architecture students in India. A number of growing MNCs hire architecture graduates and jobs are also available in the government sector.
