Arsenal will kick off the new season hoping to compete for both domestic and European glory but the question will be, do they have enough in their squad to go one stage further than last time out?
As it stands, Arsenal haven't made any serious moves in the transfer market and Gunners fans know that they do need to add at least one or two top quality players, to give themselves the depth to sustain a serious title charge.
Last season they undoubtedly played the best football (as always) for large parts of the season, but they fell at the final hurdle because they lacked the depth in their squad to keep the momentum going.
Admittedly, the Gunners were desperately unlucky to go out of the Champions League to Liverpool having been the better side over the two legs and with a little more luck they might have gone all the way, but that doesn't paper over the cracks of Wenger's inability to recognise the squad needed adding to in the January window.
Arsene says he is building a squad with quality young players, but another trophyless season won't be greeted kindly by the fans, however good the football is in patches. There's still time to make some crucial signings, and unless they make four or five quality additions to the squad, I'm afraid they just won't keep up with Chelsea and Manchester United.
However, Wenger is a shrewd manager and he'll have learnt from his mistakes last season, so I fully expect the Gunners to be firing on all cylinders come the start of the new season and Arsenal football shirts to be worn with pride. Therefore, I predict they'll be right in there come the title shake-up at the end of campaign and will also pick up some silverware along the way.
