Archery Bow Hunting—Some Tips to Get the Best Results from Your Hunting Trip

Visitors: 239

Unlike huntingwith guns archery bowhuntingis a difficult art to practice. You need to do a lot of practice in order to become a good archery hunter. There are some guidelines which you need to follow in order to become a good archery hunter. The main things are the maintenance of your bow, patience and identifying your mistakes.

Majority of the hunters use fire arms for the simple reason that it is easier to learn using them. Bows are not that easy to practice. With guns you only need to take the correct aim before firing but with archery hunting you need to take the correct aim and also you need to apply the correct weight on the pull in order to get the correct speed for your arrow. However, if you are interested in mastering the art follow the guidelines that appear below. You must identify your mistakes and correct them in order to become a good archery hunter.

The most important point in archery is to maintain your bow properly. After every hunting trip, do the necessary maintenance and store it carefully. Also before setting off on the next trip, remember to fine tune your bow. Once you are in thehunting grounds if you discover that your bow in not in perfect tune it will be a disappointment.

In archery hunting, knowing the distance between you and the target is very important. Many hunters miss their targets because they fail to make a proper guess on distance. The remedy for this is to carry a range finder along with you.

The range finder is useful when you are stationery. Trees, branches and rocks could be used to help you use range finder to judge the distance. Trees are the best in this context.

In archery bow hunting, it is the aim that is more useful than the speed. Therefore, you need to know when you could be comfortable with the pull in order to get the aim accurately. In case you are in a sitting posture, it is more difficult to take the aim properly. With a pull with higher weight you will find it still more difficult to get the aim properly.

Some hunters do not have the patience to wait for the prey to arrive at the correct distance and waste their opportunities. A good archery hunter has to practice patience.

When it comes to deer hunting with archery bows, you must aim at the broadside. If the animal is in a position that it will not see you it is easy to target. But remember that the deer is very swift in its actions and you will not get a second chance if you miss.

One more thing you need to remember when you go deer hunting using an archery bow is to not to go to the same place a second time. This is because every time you go there you leave your scent at that place. Deer is an animal that could smell for long time.

One of the gravest mistakes some archery bow hunters commit is missing the kill zone completely. When this happens the wounded animal will escape and suffer for a long time. This is strictly prohibited. You need to have a good idea of the kill zone of each and every animal you are going to hunt.
