Hamilton is Scotlands third biggest town and offers visitors a bustling centre including a pastoral blanket of South Lanarkshire countryside.

Hamilton is situated merely a 15-minute drive along the M74 from Glasgow. Choose from a variety of current and period houses to rent in Hamilton.

Hamilton today is both a commuter town and a hive of industry. It is well allocated and boasts some wonderful buildings, expansive country parks and all the modern entertainment conveniences that you would expect from a giant town. The service sector and electronics industry provide work for a lot of its population. Its oldest building, Low Parks Museum, was a 16th-century staging post, serving ale and providing rest for the horses of those on the commute between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Many are interested in Hamilton due to its rich past.

The museum features many exhibits detailing the long, grand story of Hamilton Palace, which is considered to be the biggest palace to be built for anyone outside royalty. James Hamilton, the second Earl of Arran, was given the title of Duc de Chtellerault.

The opulent building, made in 1695, was the seat of the Duke of Hamilton.

Built for the Tenth Duke of Hamilton, the Cenotaph has wonderful bronze doors and a huge dome stretching over a hundred feet into the air. Chatelherault Country Park, whereby Cadzow Castles ruins lie, stands in honour of this relationship.

The race course at Hamilton Park is also extremely popular with visitors. Its echo is thought to be the longest of any building in the world, reportedly 15 seconds long.

There are numerous houses to rent in Hamilton from which to explore this engaging area. A dress code isn't enforced, excepting Ladys Day when race-goers come from far afield. If you are looking to lease property, you can choose from a selection of modern builds to the more conventional townhouses.

Hamilton is a city of two halves : part historical and part recent.

Seek the help of a letting agent to guarantee you live in the area best suited to you - whether its for work, for sight-seeing or to explore the rural surroundings.

Most commonly, long-term lets are offered on a six to 12-month contract, but holiday accommodation can get picked up for shorter terms - from a couple of weeks to 3 months.

Letting agents in Hamilton are best sourced on the net thru one of the property search sites. They could be able to offer you a tour of the local locale so that you can get your bearings. Or, if you're in the area, visit them in person.
