There is no problem if you want to hug your pet all the time. Just make sure that they are clean. Cleanliness is vital to a dog's health. If your pooch is clean it can serve as a deterrent to some forms of dog diseases and dog skin problems. Having a healthy dog is not wishful thinking. In fact it could be easily attained if you know how to keep your pooch clean. Your pet should be totally clean from the tip of its nose to its paws and tail. Although this is easier said than done, you might as well get started because keeping a dog clean can be an all day's work.
Turning your pet to a healthy dog should be your main business. First, you need to find out the things which make your pooch unclean. These things can be attributable to the environment or from the other animals in your neighborhood which your pet plays with. Sometimes your pet becomes dirty because its playmates are also dirty. Once you find the root cause of the situation, it will be easier for you to eliminate or lessen your pets health conditions. One thing that you have to keep in mind is not to attempt to clean or wash your pet once a day because they are not like humans who knows how to behave when they are being cleaned.
Dogs don't like to be washed so they try to move a lot and run away from your grasp. For its body, take time to wash it regularly about twice a week. Regular washing wards off fleas and ticks that feeds on your pet's blood. If your pet's fur is clean and has a fresh smelling scent, fleas and ticks would not attempt to stay for long. But if its fur is full of those pests, use special anti-tick shampoos and soaps. On the other hand, do not attempt to give your dog a bath everyday because it may lead to skin itchiness and dryness.
It would also be helpful if you keep your dog away from other pets that have fleas and ticks. Not controlling the situation won't make great returns if those pests keep on coming back. Regular brushing of your pet's teeth is the next step to a healthy dog. Brushing its teeth twice a week is ideal. Its teeth and gums should be cleaned to avoid any problems regarding oral hygiene. If your pooch has unhealthy gums it might have difficulty eating. You have to make use of a proper toothbrush and toothpaste that is made especially for animals. Brushing their teeth is a hard thing to do at first because your pet might not be used to it.
But if they find the toothpaste pleasing enough, then they might welcome brushing without any problem. Other dog owners don't give the ears a little attention but to attain a totally healthy dog you might want to be concerned. Cleaning their ears is easier than brushing so a little extra time for this is not that bad. Just get a cotton ball or a small piece of cloth. Dip it in a cleaning solution and rub your pet's ears gently. Every time spent to clean and groom your pet is worth much more than you think. Owning a healthy dog is way cooler and much more fun.
