Love Your Pet? Don't Neglect Pet Vaccinations!

Visitors: 231

We all love our dogs and cats, birds and ferrets; we want them healthy and active. A good diet and exercise are important for the well being and health of our faithful companions. Vaccinations are as important part for them as they are for us. When you buy a new dog or cat, take in a stray, or acquire a new family member through other means, it's important to keep up with their health care. . Rabies, canine distemper, canine parvovirus, canine hepatitis virus, rabies, and adenovirus -2 are the core vaccines for dogs.

You can choose non-core vaccinations as well. These will be suggested by the veterinarian and should only be taken if required by law, or recommendation of the veterinarian. These non-core vaccines may cause a reaction to your pet.

Vaccine requirements vary from state, city and country. The local pet store and veterinarian will have the requirements. Be sure to document the types of vaccines you have administered to your pets. You will need this if you ever decide to re-sell your dog or cat.

You get your pets vaccinated at your local vet. All you do is schedule an appointment and a helpful doctor will administer the required shots. He will also inform you of the types of vaccines that are required for the area you live in.

You need to discuss the options with the veterinarian on the number of injections needed. There is growing concern of over inoculations and causing super-viruses to infect our pets - and possibly even spread to humans.

The injections are painless and quick. The vet will even probably give you pet a treat for the effort! Talk to your veterinarian about vaccinations. When finished, be sure to observe your pet over the course of a week to see if there are any adverse reactions. If you see any changes of behavior, contact your veterinarian immediately!

Remember, our pet's health is in our hands!
